Description
Laserman, also known as LaserMan.EXE, is a NetNavi and the personal navigation program of Dr. Regal, serving as a major antagonist in the second half of Rockman.EXE Axess. He is introduced as a Darkloid, a NetNavi corrupted by dark energy, and rises to prominence by overthrowing the previous leader of the Darkloids, ShadeMan, thereby taking command of the group. Laserman is characterized by a cold, ambitious, and ruthless personality, fully dedicated to advancing Dr. Regal’s plan to dominate the world. His motivations stem from a desire to wield power and serve his operator without hesitation, showing no mercy toward opponents and relishing in the chaos he creates.
In the story, Laserman operates as Dr. Regal’s enforcer and field commander, orchestrating attacks through the Darkloids and directly confronting the protagonists. His most significant role occurs in the final episodes of Axess, where Dr. Regal uses a Dark Synchro Chip to perform Cross Fusion with Laserman, merging their forms into a single, far more powerful entity. In this fused state, Laserman swiftly defeats ShadeMan, then grows to a gigantic size and begins attacking cities around the world, creating widespread panic. He becomes the ultimate obstacle for Rockman and Netto (Lan), who must stop his rampage. The climax sees Laserman attempting to destroy the Sci-Labs, but he is ultimately defeated when Rockman and Netto achieve Full Synchro, harnessing the combined energy of allied NetNavis to overcome him.
Laserman’s relationships are centered on his unwavering loyalty to Dr. Regal, for whom he acts as a trusted instrument, and his rivalry with Rockman, whom he seeks to destroy. He has no known allies among the heroes and treats other Darkloids as subordinates rather than comrades. Notably, he usurps ShadeMan’s position, indicating a willingness to eliminate those who stand in his way, even within his own faction. The character undergoes little personal development; he remains a consistent, unyielding antagonist who serves as a direct extension of Dr. Regal’s will. His defeat marks the end of the Darkloid threat in the series.
Laserman possesses a suite of laser-based abilities that make him a formidable combatant. His signature attack is Cross Laser, which fires a beam that spreads in a cross-shaped pattern, cracking the terrain. He can also use Star Break Laser, a shot that causes rocks to rain down on the opponent, and Power Down Laser, a precision beam that freezes time briefly and uninstalls parts of the opponent’s Navi Customizer. His Dark Laser creates a Dark Hole that slowly regenerates his health as long as it remains active. Laserman is also resistant to flinching due to his Super Armor property. When Cross Fused with Dr. Regal, he gains enhanced physical presence and the ability to grow to enormous size, unleashing devastating area attacks. These abilities underscore his role as a powerful, laser-focused threat that pushes the heroes to their limits.
