TV-Series
Description
Hop is a supporting character in Zoids: Fuzors who serves as a non-piloting member of the Mach Storm team. He is approximately 40 years old and has a physical appearance characterized by brown hair cut to ear length, glasses, and eyes that are not often visibly shown. His role within the group is primarily that of a manager or accountant, frequently seen handling paperwork, worrying over finances, and arranging jobs for the team. He is not a fighter and is completely unprepared for any sort of combat, as he has no primary Zoid of his own.
In terms of personality, Hop is presented as a serious and mature individual, perhaps to an excessive degree. He frequently becomes over-stressed and tends to be paranoid about accepting any kind of risk. This anxiety often leads him to fret about the team's financial situation, their public reputation, and the mounting costs of repairing their battle-damaged Zoids. When confronted with danger, his reaction is characteristically cautious, once suggesting that the team should go to stay with his sister in another city to avoid trouble. Despite being somewhat ordinary compared to his more flamboyant teammates, he is described as being reliable and gets along well with the rest of Mach Storm.
Hop's primary motivation stems from a desire for stability and financial security for Mach Storm. He often finds himself acting as a voice of reason, trying to give advice or orders to the team's pilots about how they should behave or complete their assignments. This advice is frequently ignored, particularly by the impulsive RD and the brash Sigma, whose childish antics are a constant source of tension and stress for Hop. Their disregard for his warnings often leads to office bickering. Among the team, Sweet is noted as one of the few people who actually listens to Hop, and as a non-pilot herself, she is often seen working alongside him.
Regarding his background, Hop has a sister living in Brown City. He appears to have been associated with Mach Storm for a considerable time, potentially dating back to a period when the team was considered a powerhouse, before becoming the struggling group seen in the series. However, his core role remains consistent as the team's accountant and worrier. His development throughout the story is subtle, as he remains largely the same stressed but reliable manager, consistently lamenting the team's financial woes known as deficits. His notable abilities lie entirely in organizational management and financial logistics rather than Zoid piloting or combat.
