TV-Series
Description
Kyohei Tachibana is a culinary student living in a crime-ridden near-future Japan where firearm ownership has been legalized. He attends a culinary arts school and dreams of traveling to France to train as a patissier and eventually open his own pastry shop. To finance this goal, he answers a part-time job advertisement posted by a mysterious group of women and becomes the live-in cook for the mercenary team known as the Bailan, composed of Sei, Jo, Meg, and Amy.
His personality is that of an ordinary, peaceable young man thrust into extraordinary circumstances. He is good-natured, somewhat naive, and initially overwhelmed by the violence that surrounds his new employers. Though he lacks combat prowess, he is loyal, kindhearted, and determined to support his companions in whatever way he can. As the series progresses, he grows more accustomed to danger and develops a quiet courage, stepping up when his friends need him even if it means facing peril.
Kyohei’s primary role is that of the team’s chef, and he takes pride in creating meals that bring a sense of normalcy and comfort to the household. His skills extend across multiple cuisines, including proficiency in Chinese, French, and Japanese cooking. He is often seen in his chef’s uniform and is frequently depicted riding a small motor scooter, which is destroyed by Jo on more than one occasion as a running gag. Through his position as cook, he becomes the audience surrogate, grounding the story with a relatable, human perspective amidst the high-octane battles and sci-fi elements.
His key relationships revolve around the four young women who employ him. Over time he forms a deep, familial bond with each of them. He grows especially close to Meg, who often acts protective toward him, but Sei, Jo, and Amy all come to value his presence and consider him an integral part of their makeshift family. In return, Kyohei cares for them deeply and strives to repay their protection with emotional support and the comfort of his cooking.
Developmentally, Kyohei begins as a timid student whose only aspiration is to become a pastry chef. The hazards of the mercenary life force him to confront his fears, and by the end of the story he has matured into a more capable and resilient individual. He remains a non-combatant, but his resolve to stay by his friends’ side and his willingness to face danger for their sake mark a clear evolution from the sheltered young man introduced at the start.
His notable abilities are entirely culinary rather than martial. He is a skilled and versatile chef, well-versed in several regional cooking traditions. While he does not engage in fighting, his resourcefulness and steady temperament occasionally prove useful in tense situations, and his presence provides a stabilizing emotional anchor for the team.
