Description
Nyarth, known in English-language versions as Meowth, is the talking Meowth who accompanies the Team Rocket members Jessie and James. He is a male Meowth with cream-colored fur, a golden coin on his forehead, and the rare ability to walk upright and speak human language, which distinguishes him from nearly all other Pokémon.
His background explains how he became such an unusual Pokémon. He began life as an ordinary stray cat raised on the streets, where he had to survive with little food and endure a harsh existence. After encountering a female Meowth, he fell in love and decided to do whatever it took to win her affection. He taught himself to stand on two legs and to speak human words, an effort that consumed so much of his inner energy that he lost the ability to use the move Pay Day and could no longer evolve into Persian.
