TV-Series
Description
Elenore Baker is the dedicated household maid and protector of Margaret Burton, serving as one of the main characters in the series. A few years older than Margaret, Elenore has already completed high school and presents the appearance of a petite young woman with short, dark brown hair and brown eyes. Her demeanor is consistently polite and proper, speaking correctly at all times, which complements her refined role in Margaret's household. However, beneath this demure exterior lies a surprisingly strong and capable fighter.

Personality wise, Elenore is defined by her immense patience and unwavering devotion to Margaret, whom she always addresses as Ojou-sama. Throughout daily life, she calmly manages Margaret's tendency to fall asleep at odd moments, space out, speak in puzzling ways, or act without considering potential consequences. Elenore almost never scolds her charge and rarely displays unreasonable anger toward her. This patience, however, transforms into sharp suspicion and even spite when dealing with anyone perceived as a threat to Margaret. Despite her serious nature, Elenore possesses a good sense of humor and engages in light teasing with close acquaintances.

Her core motivation is simple but absolute: the protection and care of Margaret Burton. Elenore comes from a family that has served the Burtons for generations, and she considers this duty her life's purpose. Her grandfather, who served as the butler for the Burton household, entrusted Margaret to Elenore on his deathbed, reminding her that the Bakers have always served the Burtons. This promise, combined with genuine love, drives everything she does. Vanessa Rene, a neighbor and friend, once remarked on how unusual it was that Elenore spent virtually all her time with Margaret, showing no interest in marrying, attending college, or pursuing a separate career.

In the story's progression, Elenore accompanies Margaret from the peaceful nation of Nafrece into the war-torn Kingdom of Gazth-Sonika, following her charge into active battle zones without hesitation. She serves as both guardian and companion, supporting Margaret as the narrative explores the mysterious connection between Margaret and the mercenary Madlax. Elenore's presence provides a stabilizing force in Margaret's life, even as supernatural forces and shadowy organizations close in around them.

Key relationships define much of Elenore's arc. Her bond with Margaret Burton is the most significant, described as one of deep love and family. Elenore states plainly that Margaret is her one and only family. Some viewers have noted that Elenore vies for Margaret's attention and can appear jealous when Margaret forms attachments to new people. She also shares a warm friendship with Vanessa Rene, their neighbor, characterized by mutual teasing and genuine care. Vanessa often takes advantage of Elenore's accommodating personality, asking her to cook and prepare baths, yet the two women share a common love for Margaret. Elenore's deceased grandfather, though only seen in flashbacks, profoundly shaped her sense of duty, and her grief at his passing fuels her commitment to protecting Margaret.

Elenore undergoes significant development, particularly in the later stages of the narrative. When Friday Monday uses the words Elda Taluta, Sarkus Sark, and Ark Arukus against her, a dark impulse rises from her unconscious mind a desire to be free of her restricted life as a maid and to kill her mistress. She points her gun at Margaret. Yet her boundless love for Ojou-sama allows her to overcome this temptation, and she turns her weapon back on Friday Monday instead. At that moment, Margaret begins breaking free from mind control and walks toward the maid. Elenore puts down her gun, and both girls reach for one another. Before their hands can touch, Elenore falls backward, her back soaked in blood. In her final moments, she reflects that she performed every act of service not because it was her duty, but because it was her wish, reaffirming that Margaret is her one and only family.

In terms of notable abilities, Elenore is far more capable than her gentle appearance suggests. She is proficient in martial arts, demonstrating combat skills when she fights Moreas Lopez. Her devotion and persistence allowed her to graduate from school years ahead of her peers, and she later became an expert in hand to hand combat. She also proves capable with firearms, handling guns without difficulty. Beyond physical combat, Elenore demonstrates investigative thoroughness, having researched all of Margaret's classmates backgrounds to ensure nothing threatens her charge. These skills combine to make her an effective protector, even against trained opponents.
