TV-Series
Description
Kuanjitta Maris, also referred to as Quanzitta Marison, is a mystic residing in a native village deep within the war-torn region of Gazth-Sonika. She possesses a dark-tan complexion, silvery-blond hair, and reddish eyes. As the keeper of Thirstari, the third of the three Holy Books, she is one of the few individuals able to read the ancient Elies script and the Saruon language in which the books are written. This knowledge anchors her role as a guardian of esoteric truths that are central to the conflict engulfing her homeland.

Her personality is composed and enigmatic, reflecting a wisdom rooted in long-held spiritual traditions. She does not seek conflict but understands the gravity of the powers tied to the Holy Books and the organization known as Enfant. Her primary motivation is to ensure that the knowledge she protects is used to counter the catastrophic designs of those who would misuse it, guiding others toward understanding rather than intervening through direct force.

Within the narrative, Quanzitta serves as a vital source of information for Margaret Burton and Madlax after they come to Gazth-Sonika. When they seek her out, she reveals the existence of Enfant and its plan to plunge the world into total war, beginning with the civil strife in Gazth-Sonika. She explains the supernatural connection between the three Holy Books and the Gift that certain individuals possess, setting the protagonists on a path to confront the threat. While she does not engage in combat herself, her ability to decipher the ancient texts and to perceive the underlying supernatural currents makes her indispensable to the effort to restore balance.

Her key relationships are defined by her role as a guide. She commands the loyalty of Nakhl, a young warrior who serves as her attendant and protector. With Margaret and Madlax, she adopts a mentor-like presence, offering cryptic but crucial knowledge that helps them unravel their own fractured pasts. She does not impose judgments on them but provides the clarity they need to make their own choices.

There is little conventional character development for her across the series; she remains a steady, unchanging pillar of ancient wisdom. Her significance lies in the revelations she imparts rather than a personal transformation. Her notable ability is her literacy in the extinct Elies script and her deep understanding of the Holy Books’ power, which allows her to function as a bridge between myth and the present crisis. Through her knowledge, the truth behind the war and the nature of the Gift is finally brought to light.
