Mako Hyōdō
Description
Mako Hyōdō, also credited as Mako Hyoudou, is a Japanese actress, voice actress, and singer born on September 7, 1962, in Tokyo, Japan. She began her entertainment career at a young age, debuting as a model at 14 for the cosmetics company Shiseido before transitioning into acting and voice work.
Hyōdō is perhaps best known for her role as Sharon Apple, the virtual idol artificial intelligence, in the influential science fiction anime Macross Plus and its Macross Plus Movie Edition. Her performance in this series remains one of her most recognized voice credits. Her other significant anime roles include the Girl in the experimental film Angel's Egg, Helena Bähbem in RahXephon, Kuanjitta Maris in Madlax, Ayaka Tateyama in Mekakucity Actors, and Otoha in Aquarion and Genesis of Aquarion: Wings of Genesis. She also voiced Aphrodite in Wedding Peach, Mermaid in the short film collection Ani-Kuri 15, Miwa Tamashiro in Kotetsushin Jeeg, Mieko Yotsuba in Sakura Diaries, and Dana and Sister Chiaki in the Super Doll Licca-chan series. Her other credits include roles as Young Lady in The Red Spectacles, Kayoko in Eight Clouds Rising, Kagari in The Adventures of Kotetsu, Natsume's mother in Jungle de Ikou!, and Fayau in Michite Kuru Toki no Mukō ni.
Beyond her extensive anime work, Hyōdō has appeared in live-action tokusatsu productions, including roles as Snake Lord/Anguis Femineus in Kamen Rider Agito and Respider in Kamen Rider Ryuki. She has also taken on writing roles, contributing as a screenwriter for the television series The Quest for a Job and the film adaptation of RahXephon, among others. In addition to her performance and writing career, she has worked as a lecturer at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. Hyōdō is affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce.
