Description
Kitazawa is a local gang leader from Baki Hanma’s hometown. He is a character who initially serves as a minor antagonist but later transitions into an ally and supporter of Baki. His role is primarily situated in the early part of the narrative, during Baki's younger years.

In terms of background, Kitazawa is a thug who commands respect among the local delinquents. He was hired to fight Baki, setting the stage for their first encounter. His pride is a central aspect of his personality; he is portrayed as being highly proud of his strength and status, and he deeply resents being defeated. This resentment fuels an intense dislike for Baki, as he cannot stand the fact that he consistently loses to someone so young. Despite this animosity, his personality has a contradictory side. Even as he expresses hatred for Baki, he also demonstrates a form of support. This is most evident when he later helps Baki prepare for his climactic first fight against Yujiro Hanma by hiring street fighters to serve as training opponents.

Kitazawa's motivation stems from his pride and his role as a leader. His initial goal is to defeat Baki to restore his own honor. To this end, he once gathered a hundred of his men to attack Baki, with thirty-seven of them being defeated before the intervention of a character named Kido. His later actions suggest a grudging respect or a sense of obligation, as he seems to want Baki to succeed in his goals, possibly because he was hired to assist him in his training.

Kitazawa’s primary relationship is with Baki Hanma. This relationship evolves from bitter enmity to a complex alliance of necessity and respect. He is a recurring figure in Baki’s early life, serving as a benchmark for the local challenges Baki overcomes. He is also associated with the local underworld figures he commands.

In terms of development, Kitazawa transforms from a straightforward enemy to a supporting figure. He begins as a proud gang leader who hates Baki for humiliating him and his crew. Over time, this hatred gives way to a more supportive role, culminating in his direct assistance in Baki’s preparation for Yujiro.

Regarding his abilities, Kitazawa is not depicted as possessing any formal martial arts training or supernatural techniques. Instead, he relies on brute force and street-brawling tactics. He is shown to be capable of beating other ordinary thugs. During his fight with Baki, he once used a blade, but there is no indication that he has any professional skill with a sword. His primary strengths lie in his authority as a gang leader and his willingness to use numbers to his advantage, rather than in any notable individual combat prowess.
