Description
Boss is the leader of the seven dwarfs in The Legend of Snow White and serves as the group's wizard. His appearance is distinctive and ancient; he is completely covered by a long, thousand-year-old beard and carries a black staff, which acts as a symbol of wisdom and power. He is short and slender with white hair, pointed ears, a round nose, and wears glasses, a tall dark-red hat, a maroon-red long-sleeved shirt with a lavender vest, and black shoes.
As a character, Boss embodies wisdom and a deep connection to the mystical side of the natural world. He knows the secrets of all plants, including which of their qualities can help people, and possesses the knowledge to harness these qualities effectively. His personality is defined by his role as a guide and protector; he is wise, intelligent, helpful, supportive, spiritual, caring, harmonious, gentle, cryptic, mystical, and kind-hearted. While he is typically meditative and serene, he is capable of being harsh and speaking with authority when the situation demands it.
His primary motivation is the protection and guidance of Snow White and his fellow dwarfs. He is the only one among them who can consult the Book of Wisdom, which is written in the ancient language of the dwarfs. He uses this ability to decipher the secrets needed to save Snow White from the many dangers she faces. In the story, he acts as a paternal figure and leader, with a particularly strong bond to the youngest dwarf, Jolly, whom he raised from infancy. He is a parental substitute for all the dwarfs, but this relationship with Jolly is especially close.
Boss undergoes significant development through a pivotal act of sacrifice. When Snow White falls victim to a poisoned ribbon sent by Queen Chrystal, Boss makes the decision to cut down his own Tree of Life. This act is the only way a dwarf can bring a loved one back to life, and he performs this heroic sacrifice to revive her, giving his own life to save hers.
