Description
Katsumi Amako, heir to the minor Amako Bushi band within the Uesugi Alliance, originally hailed from Awaji Island before Oni invaders forced his people out, fueling his intense desire to reclaim their homeland. He possesses distinctive green hair and red eyes.
During the Awaji Island Recapture Operation, Katsumi spearheaded the Uesugi Alliance forces and sought personal command of a combat unit for the mission. This ambition drove him to challenge Akihiro Shimazu and Musashi in a three-way skirmish, where Akihiro decisively defeated both. Katsumi accepted Akihiro's leadership afterward but privately questioned the hierarchy favoring powerful bands like the Shimazu over collective effort.
Katsumi diligently fulfilled his duties in the operation, holding back Oni to create openings for others. He bonded with Musashi over shared humiliation and encouraged his perseverance, revealing his own history as an heir who lost his territory. This motivated Musashi to train with Katsumi in mastering Blade Energy. Their training inadvertently caused Musashi and Michiru to produce a black crystal, leading to Musashi’s arrest on espionage suspicions.
In later battles against the Kishin Yamata no Orochi and its minions, Katsumi showed loyalty and adaptability. He expressed disappointment when Akihiro prioritized personal glory by focusing solely on the Kishin, but ultimately collaborated with Musashi and the Shimazu unit to rescue Akihiro after the Kishin consumed him. Together, they linked their powers to defeat a serpent manifestation of Yataro, an Obsidian Eight member.
Katsumi faced near-fatal consequences confronting Yataro, who had merged with the Kishin’s power. Yataro critically wounded Katsumi alongside other Bushi, but Tatsuomi Uesugi’s healing abilities saved him. After recovering, Katsumi thanked Musashi for aiding Awaji’s liberation. Shiro Inukai later recruited Katsumi into the Obsidian Eight under unspecified circumstances.
In combat, Katsumi wields a Kitetsu sword and commands the Blue Color of the Soul blade energy. His role leading Amako Bushi retainers included defending them during the leadership dispute with Akihiro.
