Gakuto Kajiwara
Description
Gakuto Kajiwara is a Japanese voice actor and singer born on November 28, 1994, in Osaka Prefecture. He is affiliated with the talent agency Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society (Haikyō). His path to voice acting was shaped by an international upbringing; after completing his first year of high school in Toyama Prefecture, he moved to Singapore with his family and attended a Japanese school there for nearly three years. It was during this time that his interest in voice acting deepened, inspired by watching a variety of anime and admiring the performances of voice actors like Yūki Kaji. After returning to Japan, he enrolled in the Department of Cinema at Nihon University's College of Art and, in 2016, joined the Haikyō Voice Actors Studio as a 48th-term trainee.
Kajiwara made his voice acting debut in 2017 with a small role in the anime Eromanga Sensei. Remarkably, within just six months of his debut, he landed his first leading role as Asta in the long-running fantasy series Black Clover, a part that would become one of his most iconic and demanding performances. Following this breakout role, he quickly rose to prominence, securing the lead role of Shinra Kusakabe in the action anime Fire Force in 2019. His performance as the enthusiastic young firefighter with a devil's footprint contributed significantly to his growing recognition. In 2020, this rapid success was formally acknowledged when he received the Best New Actor Award at the 14th Seiyu Awards, an honor shared with several of his peers.
Throughout his career, Kajiwara has demonstrated versatility by taking on a wide array of characters across different genres. He is known for voicing the gentle and kind Hitohito Tadano in Komi Can't Communicate, the passionate Hiiro Ryūgasaki in Shadowverse, and the loyal familiar Caim Kamui in Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun. He has also lent his voice to characters in popular franchises such as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean as Romeo Jisso and Rent-A-Girlfriend as Shun Kuribayashi. His filmography extends to original net animations like Romantic Killer, where he played Junta Hayami, and to tokusatsu, providing voice work for items in Ultraman Decker. In addition to his anime roles, Kajiwara is frequently cast in music-related projects and multimedia franchises. These roles include Saku Otonomiya in ACTORS: Songs Connection, Allen Sugasano in Paradox Live, Hiiro Amagi in Ensemble Stars!!, and Haruka Nijō in the Argonavis project.
Parallel to his voice acting career, Kajiwara is also a musician. He made his debut as a singer under the Avex Pictures label in November 2020 with the single A Walk, which was used as the twelfth ending theme for Black Clover. He contributed to the song's lyrics, and for the B-side track, Orange, he took on a more significant creative role by writing the lyrics and acting as the music video's producer. He has since released additional music, including a mini-album titled Doko ka no Kimi ni in 2021. Since 2018, Kajiwara has also maintained a YouTube channel called Gakutomo Channel, where he hosts videos featuring conversations and activities with various guest voice actors.
