Description
Luck Lock Franzen is the central character of the fantasy action series. He is a sorcerer and researcher in his forties with a relatively slim frame. His most defining act is a selfless sacrifice made to protect his companions. After being cornered by the Majin army, he ordered his friends to retreat while he stayed behind to hold the enemy off, an act he believed would be his last. However, instead of dying, he was trapped within the Interdimensional Rift, a void where he was forced to battle countless Majin continuously. This grueling, isolated struggle lasted for an entire decade, during which he fought tirelessly without rest until he finally managed to defeat the supreme ruler of the Majin. Upon his victory, he discovered that a bizarre side effect of the magic he encountered and absorbed during his long fight had reversed his aging, leaving him with the appearance of a young man.
In terms of personality, Luck is portrayed as a humble and kind individual. Despite his immense power, he treats everyone as an equal and does not harbor prejudice, even showing respect to the Demon race, who are typically feared and ostracized by humans. After his decade-long ordeal, his primary motivation is simply to enjoy a quiet, peaceful life. He is weary from his unsought battle and has no desire for the fame that comes with his heroic status. To escape this unwanted recognition and live normally, he adopts a new identity as an F-rank adventurer named Lock, choosing to start over from the bottom alongside new acquaintances.
Within the story, Luck initially serves as an S-rank adventurer whose supposed death inspired his comrades. Upon his return, he discovers that a statue has been erected in his honor and that he is hailed as a living legend. His role shifts from a lone warrior to a mentor and a hidden powerhouse navigating a world that has moved on without him. He re-registers as a rookie adventurer, joining a party that includes a fireball caster named Ario and an archer named Genie, while also crossing paths with a B-rank adventurer named Shia. His key relationships include his former party members, Eric Imgard Mendirival and Goran Morton, who became heroes in their own right after believing Luck had died, and who ensured his story was told as a legend.
Throughout his ten years in the rift, Luck developed a staggering arsenal of magical abilities. His unique mastery stems from a spell called Learning, which he discovered in ancient ruins. This spell allows him to instantly understand, formulate, and master any magical spell or attack that is cast upon him, provided it hits him. Consequently, many of his techniques were learned by enduring enemy attacks. These include Draining Touch, which allows him to drain life force from enemies to convert into mana and heal himself; Marionette, a mind-control magic he dislikes using but can apply to his own body for precise motor control; and Illusion magic, which he learned after being hit by a dragon illusion. His offensive capabilities include Flame Prison to trap enemies, Magical Arrows, and the devastating Implosion, which creates a point of immense gravity to crush everything in an area. He is primarily a long-range wizard who uses barriers to prevent close-quarters combat, but he is also a capable swordsman, especially after acquiring the Majin Ruler's Sword, a greatsword that can absorb curses and disrupt mana.
