Description
Allen Sugasano is a young man whose entire identity revolves around hip-hop. Born one-quarter Russian to a pianist father and an opera singer mother, he grew up in a renowned musical family that valued classical training. At age three, he received specialized music education, but by thirteen he had discovered hip-hop and fell in love with the genre. His parents strongly disapproved, and when they destroyed his recording cassettes when he was sixteen, he left home and began living with his friend Yeon Hajun. He later enrolled in an international private university and works as a beatmaker and track maker, determined to prove himself through his own music.

On the surface, Allen can appear unfriendly and difficult to approach, but he is simply awkward and does not know how to navigate social situations. He is a classic tsundere—aloof in manner yet deeply caring underneath, especially toward his close friends. He talks about hip-hop at every opportunity and is perpetually rebellious against the classical upbringing imposed on him. Despite his tough exterior, he is easily frightened by horror genres, has no sense of taste, and does not know how to respond when people show him kindness. His hobby is songwriting, and his day off typically involves writing music and performing live.

Allen’s primary motivation is to validate his chosen path. The words “I’ll prove myself through my music” drive him forward, reflecting the conflict with his parents and his need to forge his own identity. In the story, he is a member of the hip-hop team BAE (Before Anyone Else) under the MC name SUZAKU, serving as the group’s beatmaker. He lives in a high-rise apartment with Hajun, and the two have been friends since high school, along with their third teammate Anne Faulkner. Allen may do things his own way, but he genuinely cares about his friends and always prepares gifts for them on holidays like Valentine’s Day.

Over the course of the series, Allen’s development centers on overcoming the trauma of his parents’ rejection and learning to trust his own creative instincts. His notable ability is his talent for making tracks, which he channels through his Phantometal—a phoenix-shaped pendant that he activates by kissing. This item allows him to produce powerful phantom illusions during Phantom Live battles. Allen’s journey is one of perseverance: a rebellious hip-hop nerd who channels his pain into rhythm and rhyme, slowly opening up to the people who accept him for who he is.
