Description
Dark General is a prominent antagonist from the anime Zentrix, created as a high-ranking robot commander to serve the usurper Omicron. Dark General was developed alongside Silver General in the aftermath of Omicron's coup that seized control of the royal palace. The design concept behind Dark General prioritized power and weapons development capability. Physically, he is characterized by a rounded, black body that is slightly larger than a human, with a face featuring eyes and a mouth, making his design relatively human-like compared to other robots in the series.
In terms of personality, Dark General is defined by his deep and unwavering loyalty to his master, Omicron, seeing himself as a faithful servant. Despite this dedication, his eagerness to please often backfires, leading to frequent reprimands from Omicron and moments of dejection when he is treated poorly. He also displays jealousy toward Silver General, who is like a sibling to him, as Silver General becomes a favorite of Omicron. This combination of earnest servitude and petty rivalry injects a comedic and somewhat pathetic element into the character, making him a more tragic figure than a purely menacing villain.
Dark Generals primary motivation is to serve Omicrons agenda and prove his own worth. He desperately seeks his masters approval, a goal that becomes increasingly difficult as his missions fail and Silver General receives more favor. His role in the story is largely administrative and supportive at first; he operates from the palace, commanding robot troops and sending assassins to eliminate the protagonists, Princess Megan and her allies, who have traveled seven years into the past. He is also the mastermind and commander of a series of robotic warriors known as the Dark Series, which he develops himself to carry out Omicrons orders. Uniquely, he captures the powerful robot Quantum, erases his memory, and brainwashes him into becoming the first of this series, Dark 01, though the brainwashing is incomplete and eventually breaks.
His key relationship is, of course, with Omicron, to whom he is slavishly devoted but by whom he is ultimately used and discarded. He has a rivalrous relationship with Silver General, jealous of the favor Silver receives. Late in the story, Dark General receives a significant upgrade to a new form called the Dual Zentrium Body, which Omicron had been developing. This new body makes him the most powerful entity in the series at the time of its introduction, equipped with a Dual Zentrium System that synchronizes two Zentrium chips for overwhelming power. However, this system is fatally flawed; it is an unstable prototype that overhears and overloads when pushed to its limits. Omicron gave him this body not as a reward, but to collect combat data for his and Silver Generals future upgrades, making Dark General an unwitting test subject. In his final battle, he pushes the system to its maximum, achieving a golden mode, but this causes an overload that shuts him down, leaving him vulnerable to a combined attack from the heroes. His last words are a desperate cry to Omicron, who was monitoring the battle but was so focused on the data that he did not even notice his loyal servants death until Silver General pointed it out.
Notable abilities in his original body include palm-mounted beam cannons that can be adjusted from powerful blasts to precision attacks designed to temporarily disable Zentrium units. After upgrading to his Dual Zentrium body, his power increases dramatically. His palm beams become far more potent, capable of exceeding the power of other characters* ultimate attacks. He also wields an axe formed by connecting and extending two rods to create an energy blade. Despite this immense combat ability, his tragic flaw is the self-destructive nature of his own power source.
