Description
Fūka is an original character created for the 2005 animated film Street Fighter Alpha: Generations. She is the adoptive granddaughter of an unnamed elderly monk who lives in the Japanese countryside near the now-abandoned dojo of the martial arts master Goutetsu.

Fūka is first encountered when the wandering fighter Ryu comes to train at the old dojo and meets the monk. The monk, an old friend of Ryu's master Gouken, invites Ryu to stay at his home, which is where Fūka lives and serves as a caretaker. Her personality is warm and hospitable, which is shown through her kindness to Ryu and later to another fighter, Sakura Kasano. Fūka quickly forms a close friendship with Sakura after she arrives in search of Ryu; their bond is such that they are shown relaxing and bathing together in a traditional Japanese furo, demonstrating a high degree of trust and comfort between them. The film also hints at a possible romantic affection between Fūka and Ryu, though this remains a subtle and unexplored aspect of her character.

Fūka's primary role in the story is as a representative of ordinary, peaceful life, providing a contrast to the world of brutal martial arts tournaments and the dark, obsessive power of the Satsui no Hado that drives characters like Ryu and Akuma. She provides a stable, domestic setting where Ryu can rest and reflect before his final confrontation with Akuma. Her relationship with the old monk is central to her identity, and she dutifully cares for him. At the conclusion of the film, after the old monk passes away from natural causes, Fūka is shown burying him and praying at his grave, overcome with grief. Ryu witnesses this moment of sorrow and bids her a silent farewell before leaving to continue his journey, marking the end of her role in his life.

The film deliberately leaves much of Fūka’s background ambiguous, a point of some discussion among viewers. While she is presented as the monk's granddaughter, she states that her father was a martial artist who died in a great battle, and it is implied the monk is only a distant relative, not her biological grandfather. This ambiguity has led to a persistent fan theory that she may be the daughter of Sayaka, a woman from Gouken and Akuma's past who was pregnant during the film's flashback sequences. According to this theory, her father could be either Gouken or, more popularly, Akuma, which would make her the child of one of the series' most powerful and dangerous fighters. Supporters of this theory point to the fact that Fūka shares certain design traits with Gouken, and that the same Japanese voice actress, Yuri Amano, voices both Fūka and Sayaka in the film. The film itself never confirms or denies these theories, leaving Fūka’s true lineage a mystery intentionally left for the audience to interpret. She does not possess any notable fighting abilities or special powers, as she is depicted as an ordinary young woman whose significance is emotional and thematic rather than combative.
