Description
Cecily Fairchild, also known by her birth name Berah Ronah, is a central character from the Universal Century timeline. Born on November 22, Universal Century 0106, she is the daughter of Carozzo Ronah and the heir to the Ronah family, the aristocratic founders of the Cosmo Babylonia nation. Her early life was marked by separation from her noble lineage; her mother, Nadia, fled the Ronah household with her and a lover, leading Cecily to be raised under the assumed name Cecily Fairchild, living a modest civilian life as the daughter of a baker.

By the year Universal Century 0123, a seventeen-year-old Cecily was a student at a school on the space colony Frontier IV, where she was a classmate of the protagonist Seabook Arno. Her life was upended when the Crossbone Vanguard, the military arm of Cosmo Babylonia led by her family, attacked the colony. During the ensuing chaos, she was retrieved by her biological family and returned to the Ronah estate, forcing her to confront her true heritage.

Cecily is portrayed as a kind and caring individual, possessing the refined and beautiful demeanor of a model student. Initially, she is susceptible to manipulation by her family, who pressure her into becoming a symbolic figurehead for their ideals. Her grandfather, Meitzer Ronah, successfully convinces her to accept the role of the queen of Cosmo Babylonia, a decision partly motivated by her disillusionment with the Earth Federation and a desire to protect those she cares about. To signify her commitment to this new path and her resolve, she cuts her long hair short. Her motivations are deeply conflicted; while she is not a true believer in the aristocratic supremacy her family preaches, she is initially drawn into their world out of a sense of duty and circumstance. Her personal beliefs ultimately align with equality, and she struggles against being used as a pawn in her family's political schemes.

Cecily's role in the story is that of a reluctant antagonist turned ally. After being taken in by the Ronah family, she receives training in piloting a mobile suit, specifically the XM-07 Vigna Ghina, under the tutelage of Zabine Chareux, the commander of the elite Black部队. She learns the political and military skills required of an aristocratic ruler during this time. Her path crosses again with Seabook, who pilots the Gundam F91. After a battle where her machine is shot down by Seabook, she is captured by the Earth Federation and reunited with him. This reunion, combined with witnessing her father Carozzo’s genocidal actions using the unmanned "Bug" weapons on civilian populations, solidifies her rejection of the Ronah family's brutal ideology. In the film's climax, she fights alongside Seabook to stop her father’s mobile armor, the Rafflesia. Following her father's defeat, Cecily gives a public speech declaring that all people are born equal, directly undermining the principles of Cosmo Babylonia and effectively ending the war.

The most significant relationship in her life is with Seabook Arno. What begins as a schoolyard crush deepens into a strong romantic bond as they face the war together. Her family relationships are fraught, involving her ambitious grandfather Meitzer, her fanatical father Carozzo (also known as Iron Mask), her half-brother Dorel, and her stepfather Theo Fairchild, who is shown to be abusive and coercive. She also shares a complex mentor-student dynamic with Zabine Chareux, who trains her but maintains his own agenda.

Cecily is also a Newtype, possessing heightened spatial awareness and empathy, which contributes to her abilities as a mobile suit pilot. Beyond her combat skills, she demonstrates strong leadership and command capabilities, which become fully apparent in later stories where she leads the reformed Crossbone Vanguard.

Officially, Cecily and Seabook are presumed dead in a shipboard accident in Universal Century 0128. In reality, they survive and resurface in the year 0133. Having learned of the Jupiter Empire's plan to invade Earth, she takes on the role of captain of the Mother Vanguard and leads a newly formed Crossbone Vanguard to fight against the empire. As a commander, she is known for being kind, calm, and skilled, even instituting a rule for her pilots to avoid killing enemy combatants whenever possible. After the conflict with the Jupiter Empire concludes, Cecily finally retires from her life of war. She marries Seabook, and together they live peacefully on Earth, running a bakery and raising at least two children.
