Description
Asuham Boone is a primary antagonist from the anime Overman King Gainer. He is a 28-year-old Earthling who hails from London and serves as a young, elite officer within the London IMA, the central governing body. He holds the rank of Special Duty Captain and leads a specialized unit within the organization's military arm, known as St. Regan. Asuham is initially dispatched as an agent of the London IMA to stop the mass exodus toward the mythical land of Yapan, but his mission quickly becomes a personal vendetta.

Asuham is characterized by his refined, handsome appearance and his self-important, aristocratic demeanor. He is highly ambitious, self-centered, and driven by his own goals rather than any sense of loyalty to a greater cause. Despite his position as a special forces commander, his behavior is often undignified and prone to failure, giving him a somewhat comical or pathetic edge. For instance, he has attempted a stylish entrance only to slip in the snow, and has seen his attempts to threaten a main character with a gun end with him being disarmed and knocked out by a bare-handed counterattack. His villainy is often of a petty, underhanded nature, as he has resorted to taking women hostage and employing other dishonorable tactics. Among the fanbase, he is sometimes considered a one-note villain whose initial menace fades due to his obsessive and decaying motives.

Asuham's primary motivation is an intense, almost insane obsession with his rival, Gain Bijou. This rivalry stems from a past incident involving Gain and Asuham's sister, Karin. After Gain had a one-night stand with her, Asuham swore vengeance and pursued Gain across the frozen lands. His personal vendetta completely overshadows his official duty to stop the Exodus, and he pursues Gain with a disproportionate and destructive fervor. When ordered to return to London, Asuham's desire to capture Gain is so great that he instead defects and joins the Siberian Railway guard, a move he makes primarily to gain access to the most powerful Overman, the Overdevil.

Throughout the story, Asuham acts as a recurring antagonist for the Exodus led by Gainer Sanga and Gain Bijou. He is first introduced as the commander of a special forces unit sent to capture Gain, and he consistently serves as a significant obstacle for the protagonists. His character arc is defined by his escalating obsession. After failing to capture Gain, he abandons his original post and aligns himself with the Siberian Railway to further his own goals. His ultimate act of villainy is his attempt to awaken the Overdevil, a cataclysmic event that threatens to bring about the end of the world, all in his pursuit of Gain and his desire for power. Despite the scale of his actions, he ultimately escapes any severe punishment for his crimes.

Asuham has a notable but underdeveloped connection to his sister, Karin, which serves as the origin of his feud with Gain Bijou. His interactions with Gain are the driving force of his character, defined by hatred, rivalry, and a desire to prove his superiority. He also has a subordinate named Jackie, who pilots the Power Golem, an Overman often deployed alongside Asuham.

As a pilot, Asuham is skilled and commands a unique Overman named Jinba. The Jinba is not a powerful combat machine in terms of raw strength, but it possesses a formidable and unusual Overskill called Theft. This ability allows Asuham to project a beam from his Overman's palm that can steal a wide variety of objects. He can remotely take weapons, ammunition, supplies, and even the artificial muscle engines from an enemy Overman, effectively disabling them by stripping their internal components. The stolen objects are stored in a special bag on the Jinba's back, which is the source of this Overskill. While the Jinba is his signature machine, Asuham has also been known to pilot a green-colored Power Golem, a more standard physical Overman with high defensive capabilities but slower speed.
