Description
Edelhi Bootsvorz is a professional racer from Russia who competes in the Cyber Formula World Grand Prix. Born on August 8, 1993, he is a veteran driver associated with the Missing Link team for most of his career before later moving to the Sugo GIO Grand Prix team. Standing 183 centimeters tall, his blood type is O, and his known hobbies include darts and cooking, with piroshki being a specialty.
Edelhi’s most defining background feature is the severe injury he sustained in a previous Formula One accident that cost him his left eye and left arm. After this career-threatening incident, he was able to return to racing thanks to cybernetic prosthetics provided by a man named Smith, the owner of the Missing Link team. This act of aid created a deep sense of obligation that defines his early motivations.
Initially, Edelhi serves as an antagonist, acting as an agent for Smith, who seeks to acquire the advanced Asurada computer system. His motivations during this period are rooted not in inherent malice but in gratitude and his desperate desire to continue racing. He attempts to forcibly take the Asurada and deliberately cause accidents to eliminate his rival, Hayato Kazami. However, these early attempts often backfire due to his own recklessness or poor conditions.
Despite his role as a henchman, Edelhi retains a strong core of professional pride as a racer. This becomes evident during the Peru Grand Prix when he successfully forces Hayato off the track but then disobeys Smith’s order to withdraw, declaring that what he truly wants is victory in a race. His turning point arrives when Smith orders him to murder Osamu Sugo. Edelhi refuses this direct command, solidifying his break from the villainous plot and defeating Smith. Following this redemption, he sincerely apologizes to Hayato and becomes a valuable ally and a supportive senior figure.
Edelhi’s most significant relationship is with Osamu Sugo, also known as Knight Shoemach. They were rivals in Formula One before Edelhi’s accident. For a time, he harbored resentment toward Osamu, but they eventually reconciled and became good friends. As a teammate, he often partnered with the younger and more reckless Leon Anhalt. In his later role, he acts as a mentor and adult figure to the hot-headed younger drivers, notably defending Hayato against false accusations and calmly confronting those who believe rumors.
Throughout the series, Edelhi demonstrates notable abilities both on and off the track. He is an observant and deeply thoughtful individual, often able to perceive the true intentions of others when they cannot. His driving skill is such that he can consistently achieve top rankings even when piloting the underperforming Missionel series of vehicles. His cybernetic arm is incredibly strong, capable of shattering stone. Despite being only eight years older than the protagonist, he is depicted as a rugged, dependable, and mature presence, often serving as the stoic adult in a field of younger, more emotional competitors. His career statistics include one Grand Prix victory, which he achieved at the Russian Grand Prix.
