Description
Dortin is a dwarf who, along with his older brother Volkan, forms a comedic duo known for their poorly conceived schemes and relentless pursuit of profit. He and his brother have been exiled from their homeland, leaving them to wander as opportunists looking for any chance to make money, though their plans almost invariably fail in spectacular fashion.

In terms of personality, Dortin is defined by his role as a reluctant voice of reason. He is kind, knowledgeable, and possesses a somewhat nerdy demeanor, often serving as a pragmatic counterbalance to his brother's reckless impulsivity. Where Volkan rushes headlong into danger and ill-conceived plots, Dortin is more cautious and tries to offer sensible advice. A notable visual characteristic is his large, round glasses, which contribute to his studious and gentle appearance. Despite his intelligence and good sense, Dortin is frequently ignored. His constant warnings to Volkan go unheeded, and he often finds himself swept up in the ensuing chaos, desperately trying to convince others—particularly Orphen—that he had no part in his brother's latest plan.

Dortin's primary motivation is, on the surface, tied to his brother's obsession with getting rich quickly. However, his actions reveal a deeper, more consistent drive: a steadfast sense of loyalty. Even when Volkan endangers them both, Dortin refuses to abandon his brother. He will beg for help when Volkan is in life-threatening trouble, such as mushroom poisoning, and he has demonstrated a willingness to defy his brother's orders to stand by endangered allies, showcasing hidden reserves of courage and compassion beneath his cautious exterior.

Within the story of Orphen: Revenge, Dortin and Volkan function as recurring comic foils. They first cross paths with Orphen during a failed marriage fraud scheme targeting the Everlasting family. Following this debacle, they are often in the employ of Cleao Everlasting, performing odd jobs and menial labor at her family's inn while continuing to hatch half-baked moneymaking schemes. Their presence frequently complicates Orphen’s journey, as their escapades intersect with and disrupt his own goals. This leads to them becoming reluctant allies, and they often find themselves on the receiving end of Orphen’s magical wrath. In later events, such as sword retrieval missions or the Kimluck crisis, the brothers help in minor supporting roles, with Dortin’s loyalty occasionally contributing to resolving a conflict.

Dortin's key relationships are central to his character. His dynamic with his brother Volkan is the most defining, a classic comedic pairing of the reckless leader and the sensible, long-suffering follower. Their bond is ultimately unbreakable, marked by a loyalty that persists through all their failures. His relationship with Orphen is one of frustration and comic victimhood. Dortin often tries to plead innocence to Orphen following a scheme gone wrong, but this plea is usually ignored, and both brothers are subjected to Orphen's temper and magical retribution. Later, their association with Cleao Everlasting as her employees gives them a base of operations and a reason to stay connected to the main group, even if they remain on the periphery.

While Dortin’s role is primarily comedic and peripheral, he experiences subtle development. His loyalty, initially just to his chaotic brother, expands to include others in times of crisis. By standing up to Volkan to help imperiled companions, Dortin reveals a growing assertiveness and a capacity for genuine heroism that adds unexpected depth to his comic relief status. This suggests a quiet resilience and a hidden strength that anchors their absurd escapades with moments of surprising humanity.

Dortin does not possess the flashy magical abilities of a sorcerer like Orphen. His notable abilities are more practical and intellectual. He is knowledgeable and has a learned, scholarly nature, which he applies to devising the logic behind his and Volkan’s schemes, even if those plans are ultimately unsound. His true skill lies in his cautious pragmatism, as he constantly attempts to anticipate problems and mitigate his brother's recklessness, even when his advice is tragically ignored.
