Description
Maya Tomoe is a supporting character in the anime and manga series Project ARMS. She is the younger adoptive sister of Takeshi Tomoe, one of the four ARMS users. Her backstory is defined by a tragic incident from their childhood: when Maya was about to be hit by a car, Takeshi pushed her out of the way and was struck himself, resulting in the loss of his legs. This event left Maya with immense guilt, especially because Takeshi initially blamed her for what happened. The trauma created a strained and distant relationship between the siblings, with Takeshi harboring resentment and Maya feeling responsible.

Personality-wise, Maya is portrayed as a gentle and caring individual, though she is burdened by her guilt. Her primary motivation through much of the story is to reconnect with Takeshi and earn his forgiveness, but she struggles with the emotional weight of the accident. She is also shown to be vulnerable and afraid when placed in danger, which makes her kidnapping by the Egrigori a pivotal plot point. This event forces Takeshi to confront his feelings, and with the help of Ryo Takatsuki and Hayato Shingu, he successfully rescues Maya. The rescue becomes a turning point for their relationship, allowing the siblings to begin mending their bond. Maya does not possess any special abilities or ARMS implants; her role is emotional and relational, serving as a catalyst for Takeshi's character development and a reminder of the human cost of the conflict. Throughout the series, her growth is subtle but meaningful, as she moves from being defined by guilt to actively seeking reconciliation and supporting her brother.
