Description
Rudolph Zeppelin the Third is introduced in Zoids Chaotic Century as the young crown prince of the Guylos Empire. following the death of his grandfather the Emperor, the scheming minister Gunther Prozen is appointed as Rudolphs regent. Prozen secretly plots to assassinate the prince to seize power for himself, but this plan inadvertently fails when the bumbling bandits Rosso and Viola kidnap Rudolph first, taking him away from the palace and unknowingly saving his life. This event brings Rudolph into the company of the protagonist Van Flyheight and his group, who agree to help escort the young prince back to his home capital of Guygalos.

Rudolph is portrayed as an innocent, polite, and somewhat gullible young boy, which is fitting given his age. Despite his royal upbringing, he is friendly and outgoing, often eager to socialize and go on adventures. He tends to shirk formal traditions, insisting that his friends call him by his first name rather than his royal titles. While he may appear naive and frequently requires rescuing, Rudolph is also shown to be quite intelligent for his age. He consistently prefers to reason with an opponent rather than resort to fighting, and he has a strong sense of responsibility, often feeling guilty when his presence puts his comrades in danger. his primary motivation throughout the series is to protect the welfare of his friends and the citizens of his empire, as well as to become a worthy leader who can stand up against the corruption within his own government.

Rudolphs role in the story evolves significantly from a helpless damsel in distress into a proactive and capable leader. In the Chaotic Century storyline, he is mainly a supporting character who bonds with Van and the others during his journey home, learning valuable lessons about friendship, courage, and piloting Zoids. He later returns to his capital to confront Prozen, present during the climactic battle against Prozens terrifying Death Saurer. by the time of the Guardian Force storyline, Rudolph has been officially crowned as the Emperor of the Guylos Empire. In this new role, he takes decisive action to aid the heroes, such as organizing the evacuation of citizens from the Republics capital into the Empire and mobilizing the Empires 7th Armoured Division to provide critical support fire during the final battle against Hiltz and his Death Saurer.

The relationships he forms are central to his development. his bond with Van is particularly strong; Van rescues him multiple times, teaches him how to pilot, and becomes a close friend and a role model whom Rudolph trusts completely. his relationship with his regent, Prozen, is one of a sincere but defiant young prince standing up to a treacherous schemer who sees him only as a hindrance to power. Karl Schubaltz, a loyal imperial officer who serves as one of his instructors, remains faithfully devoted to Rudolph and recognizes him even when others are deceived by an impostor. most notably, his captors Rosso and Viola undergo a significant shift from enemies to fiercely protective surrogate parents. after they save him from Prozen, they secretly follow and protect him, eventually becoming his trusted elite bodyguards.

Regarding notable abilities, Rudolph is not depicted as a frontline warrior. He is a capable Zoid pilot but rarely participates in major combat. During the battle against Prozens Death Saurer, he pilots the Royal Zaber Fang to provide support fire for Van. Later, in Guardian Force, he is shown handling a personal transport Redler. his true strengths lie not in combat prowess but in his intelligence, his diplomatic and reasoned approach to conflict, and his compassionate leadership as an Emperor.
