Mahiru is a character who appears exclusively in the anime adaptation of Dragon Drive. He is the younger brother of a character named Yako. Mahiru has sandy blonde hair and brown eyes.

From a young age, Mahiru greatly admired both his older brother Yako and another individual named Rokkaku. This admiration was shattered by the death of Yako, an event for which Mahiru holds Rokkaku responsible. Consumed by a desire for revenge, Mahiru seeks to get close to Rokkaku and initially forms an alliance with a character named Kohei Toki to achieve this goal. The situation is complicated by the fact that Mahiru is unaware Kohei is the one truly responsible for his brother's death. Mahiru's motivation is consistently driven by the need to avenge Yako and confront the person he believes betrayed his brother.

When the truth about Kohei's role in Yako's death is revealed, Mahiru shifts his allegiance. He then fights alongside Rokkaku and the protagonist Reiji and his friends against the common enemy, Kohei. Even after learning the full story, Mahiru remains conflicted about Rokkaku and does not fully forgive him for the circumstances surrounding Yako's death, despite understanding that Rokkaku was not directly at fault. By the end of the series, Mahiru is shown to have apparently made peace with Rokkaku, as they are seen flying together.

As a character created for the anime, Mahiru does not appear in the original source material. His role in the story is primarily that of a vengeful ally whose personal quest for justice against Rokkaku is complicated by the revelation of the true culprit. Mahiru does not pilot a dragon and has no notable supernatural abilities, functioning as a normal human character within the series' world.
