Description
Chibi, whose name in the original Japanese version is Chibisuke, is the dragon partner of the protagonist Reiji Ozora. He belongs to the light element and is initially presented as a small, seemingly weak creature with white fur, tiny wings, and blue eyes. This unassuming appearance is a deceptive cover for his true identity as Senkōkūra, a legendary and immensely powerful dragon worshipped as a savior deity in the world of Rikyu. In this true form, Chibi loses his fur, grows exponentially in size, stands on his hind legs with hand-like paws, and gains crimson and orange scales that resemble armor.
In terms of personality, Chibi often mirrors his partner, sharing Reiji's lazy tendencies and frequently appearing to be asleep or unwilling to fight. He has an innocent and endearing demeanor, which belies the immense power dormant within him. His strength and abilities are not fixed but fluctuate dramatically based on Reiji's emotional state; when Reiji finds the will and determination to fight, Chibi's latent power begins to surface.
Chibi's primary motivation and role in the story are tied directly to his partnership with Reiji. Together, they are destined to confront Shinryu in a cycle that could lead to destruction, and Chibi is recognized as the long-awaited savior of Rikyu. The narrative follows their journey from being an underdog duo in a virtual reality game to becoming central figures in a conflict that spans worlds. Their relationship evolves from one of initial disappointment to a deep and crucial bond, with Reiji learning to command Chibi’s power. This development sees Chibi transform from a "Magikarp power" type of character, who is weak and often uncooperative, into a "Lightning Bruiser" in his Senkōkūra form, decimating opponents with devastating speed and strength. A key relationship is with Reiji's rival, Hikaru Himuro, as Chibi's loyalties become a point of tension. In the manga, Chibi was named after a white dog Reiji owned as a child.
Notably, Chibi possesses the signature attack "Lightning Wave," a powerful blast of energy capable of destroying nearly anything in its path. In the manga, his abilities are even more versatile, as he can change his elemental attribute, such as to dark or fire, particularly when transforming into his true form.
