Description
Night Kijima is a seventeen-year-old character in the anime Sacred Seven who begins the story as a primary antagonist before evolving into an anti-heroic ally. He shares the same fundamental nature as the protagonist, Alma Tandoji, both being individuals who possess the Sacred Seven power. However, Night differs in that he overuses his abilities, a habit that causes a degenerative condition that can only be managed with a special vaccine. Born on November 7 with blood type B, Night was one of three children subjected to experimentation intended to harness the Sacred Seven power. He escaped from the facility where these experiments took place, fleeing alongside his companion Fei.
Night’s personality is shaped by his past as a test subject and his subsequent struggle to live freely. He harbors a deep grudge against his former superior, Kenmi, who oversaw the experiments. This resentment drives much of his initial hostility. His primary motivation is to attain genuine freedom, and he is willing to fight the Aiba Foundation and anyone else who stands in his way. Despite his antagonistic role, he is not purely malicious; he regards Alma as a superior being and eventually comes to cooperate with him against a common enemy. This shift marks his development from a lone, vengeance-driven fighter to a reluctant but valuable ally.
Fei is Night’s constant companion and caretaker, looking after him especially when his overuse of power worsens his physical condition. His relationship with Alma begins as one of rivalry and conflict, with Night acting as a foil to Alma’s more controlled use of the Sacred Seven. Over time, they move from enemies to uneasy partners, united by their shared circumstances and the need to stop Kenmi.
Night’s notable abilities stem from his control over the Sacred Seven power. He can alter the properties of objects around him, transforming them into weapons or tools. He is particularly skilled at using swords to convert other materials into Darkstones, which he then wields in battle. Additionally, he possesses the ability to pass through solid walls, granting him mobility and surprise advantages. However, his constant reliance on his power leads to a physical strain that necessitates regular doses of a vaccine, making his strength both a weapon and a vulnerability.
