Description
Akatsuki Shinonome commands the True Army's operations in occupied Genkoku Nippon on behalf of the alternate world Shinkoku Nippon. As head of the Japan branch, his primary duties involve enforcing the ban on popular culture materials and suppressing resistance activities. He reports to higher-ranking superiors in Shinkoku Nippon, who dictate strategic objectives and demand increasingly severe measures against dissenters.

He is an adult male with black hair reaching hip-length and brown eyes. His attire consistently denotes his military rank and True Army affiliation.

His operational methods feature direct assaults on resistance strongholds, including the torching of Kabukicho after revoking its special zone status due to links to outlawed cultural materials. During the final arc, Shinonome implements a colony drop strategy, intending to destroy Akihabara by deploying an archive building filled with confiscated media as an orbital weapon. This plan leads to conflict when his superiors accelerate the timeline despite his forces being engaged in the target area, resulting in their attempted elimination of him and his troops.

Following this betrayal, he surrenders to the Arahabaki resistance, forming a temporary alliance to counterattack Shinkoku Nippon's leadership. Exposure to non-Japanese resistance members during this alliance prompts visible reconsideration of his convictions regarding the True Army's mission.

Earlier narrative developments reveal his perspective through an undercover interaction at a festival. While disguised, he converses with a ramen shop owner and Hosomichi Kudō, offering veiled justifications for his authoritarian actions that suggest personal ideological convictions beyond mere duty.
