Description
Cannon is a supporting antagonist from the first Fairy Tail feature film, Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess. He is a muscular, tall man with slightly brown skin, brown hair that is straightened up and flattened on top, and facial hair consisting of sideburns and a beard. His attire includes a dark green sleeveless shirt, brown trousers with a black belt, and a distinctive piece of dark red armor covering his left arm from wrist to shoulder, complemented by a matching dark red fingerless glove.
As a mage belonging to the Carbuncle guild, Cannon exhibits a sense of pride and arrogance common among his comrades. He has a notable habit of licking his lips when engaging an opponent in battle, which he does with visible enthusiasm. Cannon is a mercenary at heart, motivated by financial reward as he participates in the mission assigned by Prince Cream of Veronica to kidnap the priestess Éclair and obtain her half of the Phoenix Stone, a job worth four hundred million.
Throughout the film, Cannon serves as a formidable obstacle for the Fairy Tail guild. His most significant confrontations are with the ice-making mage Gray Fullbuster and the water mage Juvia Lockser. During Carbuncle's assault on the Fairy Tail guild hall, Cannon initiates the attack by unleashing a devastating salvo from his shoulder cannons, wreaking havoc on the building. In battle, he demonstrates a mocking and playful demeanor, specifically greeting Gray as handsome and suggesting they spend time together, a flirtatious taunt that provokes an intensely jealous reaction from Juvia. His combat style is aggressive and direct, favoring overwhelming firepower.
Later, during the anniversary event in the city of Veronica, Cannon ambushes Gray and Juvia from a river. He continues his psychological warfare, stating his desire to play with Gray again, which again enrages Juvia. Despite his confidence and firepower, Cannon struggles to land a decisive hit on Gray, who adeptly blocks his magic bullets with ice shields. In a final confrontation, Juvia manipulates the river water to create a ramp for Gray, who slides down and strikes Cannon with his Cold Excalibur technique, freezing him solid and ending the fight. Cannon is later seen among the ruins of Veronica following the destructive rampage of the phoenix.
Cannon's primary ability is Guns Magic, which he uses in conjunction with an arsenal of cannons. He wields a handheld cannon and also commands several larger cannons that float around his shoulders, allowing him to fire a massive barrage of projectiles. These magic bullets are highly potent, capable of damaging Juvia's water-based body, an ability that usually renders her intangible to physical attacks. He is a skilled marksman and uses his floating cannons for both widespread devastation and precision strikes in his gunfights. His fighting style relies on overwhelming his opponents with sustained, high-caliber magical firepower.
