Description
Eight Unabara is one of the main protagonists in Beyblade: Shogun Steel, introduced as the younger brother of Kite Unabara. Physically, Eight is a young boy with disheveled blue hair and green eyes. His typical outfit consists of an orange and white jacket paired with orange pants, white and blue shoes, and he is often seen with a pair of headphones around his neck. He is frequently shown riding a skateboard and appears to be quite skilled at it, using it as a mode of transport and incorporating its movements into his battle style.

Eight has a complex personality that blends confidence and immaturity. He is portrayed as a strong blader who believes that natural talent is more important than effort or training, which leads him to look down on those who work hard to improve. This philosophy is accompanied by a cocky and sometimes self-centered attitude, as he dislikes grit and hard work, preferring to rely on his innate abilities. Despite his skill, he can be a sore loser and is described as something of a cry-baby when things do not go his way. One of his most notable and mischievous habits is drawing on the faces of opponents he defeats with a pen as a form of humiliation, a penalty game he finds entertaining.

His motivations are heavily tied to his relationship with his older brother, Kite. Eight is deeply devoted to Kite, frequently complimenting him and insisting that he is the best blader. This dynamic is reminiscent of other loyal followers in the series, as Eight follows his brother everywhere and becomes infuriated when Kite is mocked or defeated. He relies on Kite for support and expects his brother to avenge his losses, and in return, he is a constant source of encouragement and will battle in Kite's place when needed.

Initially, Eight serves as a rival to the main protagonist, Zero Kurogane. He first encounters Zero during training and challenges him, arrogantly assuming his talent will guarantee victory. However, after losing to Zero and subsequently having his own face drawn on as a penalty, he harbors a grudge and seeks revenge through his brother. His role in the story evolves from an antagonist to an ally. After Kite loses to Zero in a more formal battle, both Unabara brothers agree to join Zero's group, though their stated reason is to train and eventually get revenge on Zero. As a member of the group, Eight participates in various challenges, including the preliminary rounds of the Neo Battle Bladers tournament, where he is eliminated by the antagonist Kira.

In terms of development, while Eight maintains his core personality, he becomes more integrated into the main cast. He participates in team training sessions, such as a harsh regimen to improve launching strength and stamina, and joins the group on social outings. His relationship with Zero shifts from pure antagonism to a more cooperative, if still competitive, dynamic as they work together against common enemies like the organization DNA.

Eight's notable abilities are centered on his Beyblade, Pirates Orojya 145D, a Stamina-type Bey that is themed after the mythical Yamata no Orochi, which has eight heads and eight tails. His battle style is heavily influenced by his skateboarding, using the Shogun Steel Stadium's moving floor to his advantage to dodge attacks and position his Bey for strikes. He is known to remain calm and confident during battles, quickly analyzing his opponent's weaknesses. A key ability shared with his brother is Synchrome, a technique where two Beyblades are combined. By Synchroming his Pirates Orojya with Kite's Guardian Leviathan, they form the powerful Orochi Leviathan, which has immense weight that can stop the stadium from rotating and unleashes a special move called Spiral Crush.
