Description
Dragon is a central character in the Duel Masters Victory V anime, known for being a powerful and wandering duelist who serves as an early rival to the protagonist, Katta Kirifuda. His background is unique, as he is not an ordinary human but a creature from the creature world in his true form. He is the guardian of Princess Prin Prin and his real identity is an Eternal Ryusei Kaiser, a formidable Dragon creature. He initially travels from place to place, participating in various dueling tournaments, largely because he is searching for someone important to him, which is later revealed to be the princess he is sworn to protect.

In terms of personality, Dragon is generally calm, cool, and collected, with a very high level of confidence in his dueling abilities. This confidence stems from his status as a top-tier player who has won numerous competitions. He has a very distinctive and quirky speech pattern, where he often repeats a word by adding the same meaning in English, such as saying "Sweet, isn't it? Sweet" or "Silence, Shut up". His demeanor can sometimes come across as aloof or serious, but as the series progresses, a more comedic and long-suffering side of his personality emerges. This is especially true in his interactions with Princess Prin Prin, who often bosses him around, and as he finds himself in increasingly absurd and unfortunate situations, from being forced to work odd jobs to dealing with personal relationship issues.

Dragon's primary motivation shifts over time. Initially, he is driven by a mission to find Prin Prin, but after accomplishing this, his goals become more mundane and comedic, such as surviving the princess's demands. His role in the story of Victory V is significant. He is the first duelist to hand Katta a defeat, which sparks Katta's desire to grow stronger. He acts as a mentor-like figure and a powerful ally. In the Victory V series specifically, he is seen enjoying a comparatively peaceful life serving the princess, though his skills as a duelist remain crucial. His relationship with Katta evolves from that of a rival to a close and trusted friend, with Dragon ultimately calling Katta his best friend. His key relationship is with Princess Prin Prin, whom he serves devotedly, often enduring her selfish and demanding behavior. Later in the series, he also has a romantic relationship with a human woman named Reiko Okabe, which ends badly.

Throughout his appearances from Victory to VSRF, Dragon undergoes a notable but often undignified development. After his heroic deeds, his character shifts dramatically toward comedy and hardship. He is shown to be a skilled cook and even manages a bakery. However, his fortunes fluctuate wildly; he suffers from being a literal doormat for the princess, gets possessed by a ghost, becomes a successful food cart owner, then experiences a business failure, a painful breakup with his girlfriend, and subsequently gains a significant amount of weight from stress eating. Despite this decline into a more struggling and comic relief character, his fundamental bravery and loyalty remain. In a critical moment, he transforms back into his true dragon creature form to rescue Katta from the darkness of the forbidden creature Dormagedon, an act that severely injures him.

Dragon possesses several notable abilities, both as a human and as a creature. As a duelist, his skills are exceptionally high, and he has a habit of wandering to find strong opponents. His most distinctive ability is his true form. As the Eternal Ryusei Kaiser, he is a powerful fire civilization creature. In this form, he can fight directly and has the power to become a part of a psychic super creature. He also has the ability to transform between his human guise and his dragon form. His speech pattern, which adds a corresponding English word for emphasis, is one of his most recognizable and defining character traits.
