Kousuke Takeuchi was a Japanese voice actor and former entertainer, born on July 4, 1976, in Akita Prefecture, Japan. He passed away on June 8, 2022, at the age of forty-five. His career in the entertainment industry began not as a voice actor but as a stage performer and comedian. He studied at the College of Art at Nihon University but left before completing his degree to participate in forming a theatre company called PROPAGANDA STAGE. Following his time in theatre, he formed a comedy duo with his partner Saitoh Yasuo, where Takeuchi was known for playing the fool. After the comedy duo disbanded in 2005, he transitioned to focus on voice acting.
Takeuchi's voice acting career, which spanned from the early 2000s until his death, included a variety of roles in anime, video games, and OVAs. He is perhaps best known for his role as Hikaru Amane in the long-running sports anime The Prince of Tennis, a part he played in both the original series and subsequent specials. Another significant early role was as Tesshin in the 2005 anime series Ginga Densetsu Weed, a sequel to the popular series Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin.
His other notable anime roles included Naoya Tamaki in Dear Boys, Iyashi no Monshou in Tactics, Enomoto in the 2006 adaptation of Reborn!, and a police officer in the 2016 series Kuma Miko. He also contributed to several major video game franchises. He voiced Gad in the 2010 role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles and its 2020 Definitive Edition. In the game series based on The Prince of Tennis and Eyeshield 21, he took on multiple roles, including Kensuke Kai and Ōjiro Hara in the latter. Takeuchi was affiliated with the talent agency Kekke Corporation at the time of his death.
