Description
Leo Hyakujuu is a new transfer student who arrives at Katta Kirifuda's school during the events of Duel Masters Victory V. He is known for constantly repeating the phrase "Ore wa Leo," meaning "I am Leo," a catchphrase that later inspired the card name Codename Orewaleo. Leo is a passionate fan of Duel Masters and the band YA.RA.SI, but his deeper motivation is a strong desire for fame. His ambition leads him to jump onto the stage during a YA.RA.SI concert to attract attention. There, he meets Osamurai Van Osamu, who asks who he is; Leo declares himself a duelist. Osamurai shows him a copy of Coro Coro magazine featuring Katta as the new Duel Masters champion, and Leo realizes that achieving fame through Duel Masters is the path he wants to follow.
In the story, Leo serves as a new classmate and rival to Katta and the other main characters. He engages in duels and seeks to make a name for himself in the competitive world of Duel Masters. His personality is marked by confidence and a straightforward, almost theatrical self-assertion, driven by his hunger for recognition. His key relationship is with Katta Kirifuda, who is both a peer and the established champion that Leo aims to surpass. He also interacts with Osamurai Van Osamu, who influences his decision to pursue dueling seriously. Later, Leo returns in the second half of the Versus Saga as Katta's classmate in middle school, indicating that he remains part of the ongoing narrative.
In terms of abilities, Leo specializes in a deck built around Nature Civilization creatures, which emphasizes field control and endurance. His signature creature is a giant tree‑like monster called Giant Atlas, the World Tree, which has the unique ability to summon other creatures from the deck directly into battle, allowing him to quickly reinforce his side of the field. This skill makes him a formidable opponent, as he can adapt to changing situations and overwhelm rivals with summoned forces. Leo also demonstrates strategic thinking and a quick grasp of creature abilities, traits that serve him well in high‑stakes duels.
