Mr. Heartland is the mayor of Heartland City and a wealthy businessman who publicly presents himself as a charismatic philanthropist, hosting the World Duel Carnival and appearing to care deeply for the city’s children. In reality, he is a manipulative and deceitful individual secretly working alongside Dr. Faker to collect every Number card. His true motivation is to further Dr. Faker’s agenda, and he has no qualms about blackmailing Kite Tenjo or torturing child soldiers to achieve his goals. He takes great pride in his appearance and becomes visibly upset when his image is damaged, and he enjoys witnessing the suffering of others. After falling into the Sphere Field Cannon, he is transported to the Barian World, where he is initially transformed into a small insect. Vector later resurrects him using Don Thousand’s power, granting him a monstrous Barian form with insect-like features. In this new form, he becomes the leader of the Fearsome Four of the Dark Dueling World, serving Vector with intense loyalty out of gratitude and fear. As a duelist, Mr. Heartland uses an Infection Deck centered on Infection Fly and its ability to quickly swarm the field, enabling him to Xyz Summon his ace monster, Number 1: Infection Buzz King. He can also summon Barian insects, teleport through Overlay Networks, and use Don Thousand’s Emblem to halve an opponent’s Life Points. His role in the story evolves from a secondary antagonist in the early arcs to a minor but persistent threat during the Barian conflict, ultimately meeting his end when he is defeated by ZEXAL III and then incinerated by the fake Numbers Vector gave him.
