Description
Manatsu Souda is a supporting character in the anime Red Data Girl and one of the Souda triplets. He is the younger brother of Mayura Souda and an identical sibling of Masumi Souda, sharing a similar appearance with brown hair and brown eyes. Raised within a family that holds significance in the spiritual and academic circles of Hōjō Academy, Manatsu is a student at the school and becomes a classmate to the protagonist Izumiko Suzuhara.
Manatsu has a cheerful and gentle disposition. He is approachable and friendly, but his demeanor shifts notably when his family is involved. In such situations, he becomes protective and serious, displaying a strong sense of responsibility toward his siblings. This protective streak mirrors the attitude of his brother Masumi. Manatsu also has a deep affection for horses, especially Tabi, his first horse, which is a recurring point of interest for him.
His role in the story is that of a secondary student at Hōjō Academy who interacts regularly with Izumiko, Mayura, and other central characters. While he is not directly involved in the main supernatural conflicts surrounding the Himegami and the contest between rival factions, his presence grounds the narrative in everyday school life. His relationship with Mayura is close and supportive, and he shares a sibling bond with both Mayura and Masumi, which occasionally reveals more serious aspects of his personality. Through his interactions with Izumiko, he contributes to her adjustment to the school environment and serves as part of the social circle that helps her feel more connected to her new life.
Manatsu does not undergo major personal transformation over the course of the series, but his consistent loyalty to his family and his calm, friendly nature provide a sense of stability within the story. He does not possess supernatural abilities or engage in the spiritual warfare that defines the central plot; his significance lies in his role as a supportive classmate and brother. His notable traits include his love for horses and his ability to become stern and watchful when his relatives are threatened.
