Description
Miyuki Sagara is a central figure in Red Data Girl. He is the son of Yukimasa Sagara and a childhood friend of Izumiko Suzuhara. Raised in the environment of the Tamakura Shrine, he has undergone training as a yamabushi from a young age, a path that defines much of his identity and purpose. Physically, he is depicted as a very attractive young man with soft dark hair swept to the left, pale skin, and grey-brown eyes, a appearance that often draws unwanted attention from girls his age.

Initially, Miyuki displays a cool-headed and somewhat scornful demeanor, frequently berating Izumiko and showing resentment toward the role his father has assigned him. He strongly dislikes his first name and prefers to be called by his family name, Sagara. His early attitude is marked by reluctance and a desire to resist his destiny. However, upon learning the truth about Izumiko being a yorishiro, a vessel for the Himegami, his perspective shifts. He makes a conscious decision to pursue his training as a mountain monk more seriously, driven by a newfound desire to gain the power necessary to protect her. This marks a key development in his character: from a reluctant participant to a dedicated protector.

His primary motivation becomes safeguarding Izumiko from various supernatural threats and the manipulations of those who wish to exploit her power. He enrolls at Hojo High School in Tokyo alongside her when she expresses a wish to live in the city, serving as both a guardian and a supportive presence. His role in the story is that of a warrior and protector, bound to Izumiko by fate. Key relationships include his complex bond with his father, Yukimasa, who is responsible for pushing him into this role, and his evolving connection with Izumiko, which grows from childhood familiarity into a deeper bond of trust and dependability as they navigate the challenges of her powers and his duties. In terms of abilities, Miyuki possesses the skills of a yamabushi, which grant him heightened spiritual awareness, physical conditioning, and the capacity to perform certain protective rituals and interventions against spiritual entities. His strength lies not only in these trained abilities but also in his growing resolve and analytical nature.
