Description
Alisa Ilyinichna Amiella is a New-Type God Eater originally assigned to the Fenrir Russian Branch before being transferred to the Far East Branch. She is a young woman with silver hair and blue eyes, typically wearing a black and red plaid beret, a black leather jacket over a red plaid skirt, and black over-the-knee leather boots. Her appearance in the Far East reflects an adaptation to the warmer climate, sometimes seen in clothing that reveals her midriff.
Alisa carries a deep psychological wound from her childhood, having witnessed her parents being killed before her eyes by a powerful, lion-like Aragami known as Dyaus Pita. This traumatic event instilled in her a powerful and specific phobia of tiger-type Aragami, which becomes a critical vulnerability in combat situations. To manage this trauma, she undergoes regular psychiatric treatment, a fact that her superiors later exploit for their own purposes.
Initially, Alisa presents herself with a cold and arrogant demeanor. As one of the few wielders of a second-generation, or New-Type, God Arc, she possesses a strong sense of superiority over the Old-Type God Eaters stationed at the Far East Branch. She looks down on her new comrades, considering them outdated and inferior, and is openly dismissive of their abilities. Her attitude is characterized by a sharp tongue and a reluctance to cooperate, seeing herself as fundamentally above the standard missions and tactics of her new unit.
Her role in the story is deeply tied to both her personal trauma and her superior combat skills. She plays a key part in the disappearance of the legendary God Eater, Lindow Amamiya. During a critical mission, her fear of a Dyaus Pita-like Aragami triggered a mental breakdown. This breakdown, combined with a subconscious psychological command implanted by her director, caused her to turn her weapon on Lindow. Although she regained control at the last moment and diverted her fire, the resulting damage to the environment separated Lindow from the team, leading to his presumed death. This event causes Alisa to be overwhelmed by guilt and self-recrimination.
Her character development is central to her arc. After this incident, Alisa becomes withdrawn and wracked with guilt. It is through the persistent support and empathy of the protagonist that she begins to heal. The protagonist helps her confront her fear and regain her confidence in battle. As she recovers, her personality softens considerably. She sheds her arrogant superiority and becomes a more cooperative, reliable, and compassionate teammate. She transforms from a prideful and isolated outsider into a valued member of the unit and a role model for newer God Eaters. Her key relationships evolve significantly during this time. She forms a close, unspoken bond with the protagonist, who helps her overcome her past. Her respect for Lindow deepens as she works to atone for her role in his disappearance, and she develops a strong friendship with her comrades, including Sakuya Tachibana and Kouta Fujiki. Later, in the God Eater 2 storyline, she joins the specialized unit Cradle, continuing to serve as a highly effective leader and operative.
As a combatant, Alisa is exceptionally skilled. Her New-Type God Arc is a versatile weapon that can shift between a long blade for melee combat and an assault gun for ranged attacks. Her fighting style reflects her studious nature, as she possesses a strong understanding of tactical theory which she effectively applies in the field. In God Eater 2, she awakens a powerful technique known as a Blood Art, specifically the Sonic Caliber, which enhances her melee capabilities. Her abilities are not just limited to offense; she is also known for her tactical awareness in supporting allies, making her a formidable and well-rounded God Eater.
