Description
Kōta Fujiki is a fifteen-year-old God Eater who joins the Far East branch of Fenrir on the same day as the protagonist. He is assigned to the First Unit and is classified as an old-type God Eater, meaning his God Arc cannot transform like the newer models. He wields a long-range assault gun that was previously used by the veteran God Eater Tsubaki. Despite its older design, the weapon has been repeatedly upgraded and performs comparably to more recent models. Kōta comes from a civilian family and has a mother and a younger sister named Nozomi, whom he cares for deeply. His strong sense of family motivates him to fight and protect what remains of the human world from the Aragami.

Kōta has a bright, friendly, and sociable personality. He is approachable and often cheerful, though he can also come across as slightly frivolous or impulsive. His optimistic outlook persists even in the grim post-apocalyptic setting, and he is quick to joke or show interest in everyday matters, such as cooking or talking about girls. This warmth and positivity are recognized by his captain, Lindow, who appreciates Kōta’s ability to lift the team’s spirits. However, his kind nature sometimes leads him to act recklessly, putting himself in danger to help others. He is also a skilled cook and is frequently shown preparing meals for his comrades, which further strengthens his bonds with the team.

In terms of abilities, Kōta is not the most powerful fighter in the unit, but he possesses a unique and highly valuable talent: exceptionally sharp hearing. He can detect Aragami before they appear, picking up sounds that are inaudible to others. This makes him an essential asset on missions, allowing the team to anticipate threats and adjust their tactics. Additionally, his old-type God Arc is noted for its high link burst performance, enabling strong synergy with new-type God Eaters during coordinated attacks. As the story progresses, Kōta develops from a green rookie into a more confident and reliable member of the First Unit. Later, in the events of God Eater 2, he becomes the captain of the unit, demonstrating his growth and the trust his peers place in him.

Kōta’s key relationships include his close camaraderie with the protagonist, who shares his first day at the branch, and his respect for Lindow, who serves as a mentor figure. He also holds gratitude toward Tsubaki for entrusting him with her former weapon. His devotion to his mother and sister remains a central emotional anchor, driving his determination to survive and keep fighting. Through his cheerful demeanor, sensory gift, and steady development, Kōta Fujiki becomes a vital and memorable member of the God Eater team.
