Description
Pícoro, whose original name is Piccolo, is a Namekian warrior who appears in the anime film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' as one of the defenders of Earth. Born as the reincarnation of the demon king Pícoro Daimaō, he was created with the mission of avenging his father and carrying on his ambition of conquering the world. After losing a decisive battle against Son Goku during a martial arts tournament, his path gradually shifted, and he became a dependable ally of the heroes. In the larger story of the franchise, it is revealed that he belongs to the alien Namekian race, and through two fusions, first with the warrior Nail and later with the guardian Kami, he gained considerably greater power, knowledge, and access to techniques associated with the gods.
By the time of Resurrection 'F', Pícoro has long left behind his villainous origins and acts as a calm, strategic, and experienced fighter. In the film, he is among the warriors who gather to face the return of the villain Frieza. When Frieza and his army invade Earth, Pícoro fights alongside Son Gohan, Krilin, Maestro Roshi, Ten Shin Han, and the galactic patrolman Jaco, and together they defeat thousands of Frieza's soldiers. Once Frieza himself enters the battle, however, his greatly increased power overwhelms the Earth's defenders, and Pícoro is defeated along with the others. His motivation in this story is not revenge or ambition but a sense of responsibility and loyalty to the planet and the people he has come to care for.
Pícoro's personality is defined by stoicism, composure, and careful analysis. He speaks little, prefers to observe before acting, and often functions as a voice of reason among the warriors. Although he once embraced the idea of being a demon and sought to destroy his enemies, he has matured into a selfless protector. The clearest sign of his development is his bond with Son Gohan, Goku's eldest son. Pícoro trained Gohan during his childhood, and that experience transformed him from a solitary figure into a devoted mentor. In Resurrection 'F', the two fight side by side, and Pícoro's protective attitude toward Gohan reflects the deep trust between them. His relationship with Goku has likewise evolved from intense rivalry into mutual respect, and he cooperates smoothly with the other fighters while still keeping a certain emotional distance.
As a Namekian, Pícoro possesses several notable abilities. His body can regenerate lost limbs as long as his head remains intact, his arms can stretch to strike from a distance, and he moves with great speed. He is able to fly, communicate telepathically, and move objects with his mind. His signature techniques include the Special Beam Cannon, a powerful piercing energy attack that gathers energy between two fingers, and the Hellzone Grenade, a technique in which he surrounds an opponent with many energy spheres and makes them converge into a single massive explosion. After his fusion with Kami, he also gained access to the Evil Containment Wave, a technique that seals enemies inside a container, as well as the ability to grow to a giant size. In Resurrection 'F', he primarily functions as a frontline fighter, using his experience, reflexes, and energy attacks to hold back Frieza's forces while awaiting the arrival of stronger allies.
