Description
Pegasus Kōga is the main protagonist of the anime Saint Seiya Omega and the new Bronze Saint of the Pegasus constellation, inheriting the Pegasus Cloth once worn by the legendary Saint Seiya. He was adopted as an infant by Saori Kido, the earthly incarnation of the goddess Athena, after Seiya saved his life. Raised under Athena's protection and trained from childhood, he was unaware of his destiny as a Saint and, as a thirteen-year-old, questioned the purpose of Saints in an era of peace. When the war god Mars attacked the Sanctuary, his dormant Cosmos suddenly burst into flame out of rage and love for Saori, awakening him as the Pegasus Saint. He then set out on a journey to find and rescue her, meeting other young Saints along the way.

In personality, Kōga is impulsive, passionate, and naturally rebellious, with a headlong approach to battle and a stubborn refusal to give up. His persistence often rallies his companions in difficult fights. Beneath that exterior, he is perceptive and emotionally sensitive, showing compassion and understanding for the feelings of those close to him. He holds absolute loyalty to his comrades and to Athena, and his actions are guided by the ideal of protecting the innocent. His central internal conflict is the struggle between light and darkness: although he wields the element of light, his true Cosmos element is darkness, and much of his growth involves learning to control and accept that side of himself.

His role in the story places him at the center of two major conflicts. Early on, he fights to free Saori from Mars and to protect the girl Aria, who was meant to be used in Mars's plans. He later confronts the dark god Abzu, and his victory earns him the epithet God Slayer. In the later conflict against the goddess Pallas and her Pallasite warriors, Kōga carries that reputation while grappling with its emotional cost, and he ultimately plays a key part in the battle against the god Saturn.

Kōga's most significant relationships are with his fellow Saints. His closest allies are Yuna, Ryūhō, Haruto, Sōma, and later Eden, who together form a brotherhood comparable to the original five Bronze Saints. His bond with Saori, who raised him, serves as the emotional anchor of his journey, while Seiya stands as the legendary predecessor whose legacy he carries. The Steel Saint Subaru initially challenges Kōga as a rival, but their relationship deepens as they fight on the same side.

His development follows a clear arc from an uncertain boy to a mature leader. After his darkness consumed him and he inadvertently hurt his friends, and after the Pegasus Cloth was shattered, he lost confidence and developed a fear of fighting. When the Pallasites attacked, he overcame that fear, donned the reborn New Pegasus Cloth, and reclaimed his resolve. In the climax of the series he awakens the ultimate Omega power, unifying his identity as the Pegasus Saint.

In terms of abilities, Kōga stands apart from all previous Pegasus Saints through his mastery of both polarities of the Cosmos. He can use light-based Cosmos, yet his true element is darkness, and rather than being destroyed by this contradiction, he integrates both forces into a unique power called the Double Cosmos. His signature techniques include the Pegasus Ryuseiken, the Pegasus Suiseiken, the Pegasus Rolling Crash, and the Pegasus Flash Fist, and in the later part of the series he fights in an upgraded New Cloth that reflects his evolved strength.
