Description
Hō Honoka is a minor character in the science fiction series Knights of Sidonia. She is one of the Honoka sisters, a group of identical clone girls created to serve as pilots for the Sidonia's mecha forces, known as Gardes. Like all her sisters, she is chronologically only a few years old upon being deployed, having been subjected to accelerated growth and compressed mental training to reach a combat-ready state as quickly as possible. Her designation is pilot of unit 705.

As a clone bred for warfare, Hō Honoka's background is defined by her engineered purpose. The Honoka sisters possess enhanced physical abilities, such as increased strength and agility, and are capable of sustaining themselves through photosynthesis, an adaptation that reduces the consumption of the ship's limited resources. Her role in the story is to serve as a frontline combatant in the ongoing, desperate war against the shapeshifting alien Gauna.

Regarding her development in the story, Hō Honoka is notable for being the first among the Honoka sisters to be killed in action. Her death occurs in battle against a formidable and recurring Gauna known as the Crimson Hawk Moth. The specific battle is a chaotic and high-stakes engagement in which the Sidonia's forces are overwhelmed. Hō Honoka is slain by the Crimson Hawk Moth, and her death is witnessed by one of her sister clones, Ren Honoka. This event directly leads to a rescue attempt by the series' protagonist, Nagate Tanikaze. Her early demise serves to underscore the brutal and unforgiving nature of the conflict, demonstrating the high casualty rate among the mass-produced clone pilots who are created as expendable assets for the colony's defense. Her fate marks her as a tragic figure whose short existence is defined entirely by her function as a soldier. Like her sisters, her given name is a character that references fire.
