Description
Paion Silver is a Monomakia, a bio-engineered combat life form created in the world of Brigadoon, and one of the three gun-swordsmen of that world alongside Melan Blue and Erin Garnet. His name, in which Paion is said to carry the Greek meaning of gray, suits his metal-gray body, and he appears as a silver-armored warrior with red eyes and no hair. He is introduced during the story as a gun-swordsman who arrives on Earth to pursue a mission connected to Melan.

As a fighter, Paion is regarded as the strongest of the three gun-swordsmen. He carries the holy sword Excalibur in his right arm and a gatling-style rapid-fire gun in his left arm, giving him heavy firepower at both range and close quarters. His sword is heavy enough that he has difficulty regaining his stance after an attack, but its destructive power exceeds even the weapons of Melan and Erin. Paion approaches combat with carefully calculated methods, studying the characteristics, techniques, and armament of his opponents before committing to battle. His ruthlessness is also extreme for a biological weapon, and he will annihilate anything that defies him without mercy. At the same time, he carries a strong sense of warrior pride, dislikes cowardly behavior, and prefers to fight his enemies fairly and openly.

His role in the story is that of a pursuing antagonist. Because Melan Blue has been branded a traitor to Brigadoon, Paion is sent to Earth together with Erin Garnet to hunt him down. Unlike Erin, whose hostility toward Melan comes from personal rage, Paion treats the mission as a matter of duty and the code of the gun-swordsmen. He believes that Melan has betrayed their world, yet he does not simply want his former comrade destroyed; at one point he asks Erin to spare Melan so that Melan could stand trial and receive a proper judgment, but Erin is too consumed by her anger to accept. This wish for order and due process sets Paion apart from the more vengeful pursuit led by Erin.

Before their falling out, Paion and Melan shared a close bond. They were rivals who competed with one another and comrades tied by firm friendship, and Paion is described as having once been Melan's best friend. That shared history shapes his pursuit throughout the series. He crosses swords with Melan repeatedly, driven by his loyalty to the mission but carrying an inner wish to trust in Melan's actions and to believe that the accusation of betrayal may not be the whole truth. His internal conflict between duty to Brigadoon and faith in his old friend is central to his character and gives depth to his repeated clashes with Melan.

Paion works alongside Erin Garnet in the hunt, and the two represent different approaches to the same mission: Erin seeks revenge driven by raw emotion, while Paion remains mindful of the gun-swordsmen's code and the proper handling of a traitor. He is also distinct from Kuston Brown, a newer gun-swordsman altered by the Renegade faction, in that Paion's strength comes from discipline, experience, and calculated skill rather than biological modification. His notable abilities ultimately reflect his personality: overwhelming combat power kept in check by a code of honor, and a warrior's pride that distinguishes him from more single-mindedly vicious enemies.
