Description
Ms. Loon, known in the original Japanese version as Namiko Gokumare, is a supporting character in the anime Mon Colle Knights. She works as a schoolteacher and is the homeroom teacher for the class that includes the protagonists Mondo and Rokuna. Her background is that of an ordinary elementary school teacher in the human world, but she becomes involved with the adventures in the Mon World after accidentally traveling there.
In terms of personality, Ms. Loon is portrayed as a competent and kind educator who genuinely cares for her students. However, her life is dominated by a single-minded desire to find a husband, and she frequently becomes smitten with any seemingly eligible man she encounters, often leading to comedic situations. She also has a strong fondness for cats, regularly feeding strays in her neighborhood, and this affection proves useful when she encounters feline creatures in the Mon World.
Her motivations center around her romantic aspirations, but she also displays a protective side toward her students and the creatures she meets. Despite her distracted nature, she takes her role as a teacher seriously and agrees to keep Mondo and Rokuna’s secret involvement with the Mon World in exchange for their help in finding her a suitable partner.
Ms. Loon’s role in the story is primarily that of a comedic supporting figure. She frequently stumbles into the Knights’ adventures, often through accidents or coincidences. In her first major appearance, she accidentally travels to the Mon World via the portal technology and is mistaken for a monster by the villain Prince Eccentro. She later helps the Mon Colle Knights defend a castle inhabited by talking cats, using her affinity for felines to gain their trust. She also makes a second trip to the Mon World while on holiday, during which she encounters Eccentro again and briefly believes she has found love, only to realize his villainous nature.
Key relationships include her bond with Mondo and Rokuna, her students, whom she treats with a mix of authority and affection. She also develops a connection with a black cat character known as Black Tango Cat, who accompanies her during one adventure and offers her advice. Her interactions with the antagonist Prince Eccentro are marked by her initial romantic infatuation with him, followed by disappointment when she learns he is evil.
Development for Ms. Loon is limited but present. In one of her significant episodes, the Black Tango Cat tells her she should learn to be happy with herself as she is, rather than constantly seeking a romantic partner. Although she hears this advice, she rejects it, indicating that her character does not undergo a major transformation but remains defined by her persistent romantic pursuit.
Notable abilities are not magical or combative. Her primary strength lies in her kindness and ability to connect with animals, especially cats, which occasionally aids the Knights in resolving situations. She is otherwise an ordinary human who relies on luck and the help of others to survive in the dangerous Mon World.
