Description
Elliot Grant is a central supporting character in the anime. He is the stern and often sarcastic young owner of Cafe Mew Mew, which serves as the secret base of operations for the team of heroines. He is known for his striking appearance, which includes short blond hair and aquamarine eyes. Elliot is typically dressed in sharp, formal attire, such as a black vest and white pants, and is almost always seen wearing a high collar or a band around his neck, a stylistic choice that serves a specific purpose.

His background is marked by personal tragedy. As a child, Elliot lived in the United States with his parents. His father was a scientist who discovered the fossilized remains of an ancient, dangerous race known as the Chimera Animaux, also referred to as Predasites. During an accident, a revived Chimera Anima caused a fire that destroyed his family home and killed both of his parents. Following this event, Elliot dedicated himself to completing his father's research, the Mew Project. Using the notes he had memorized, he and his close associate, Wesley J. Coolridge, continued the project in Japan to create warriors capable of protecting the Earth from the alien threat.

Elliot's personality is complex. On the surface, he is often perceived as arrogant, rude, and insensitive, displaying a particularly sarcastic and teasing attitude towards the main heroine, Zoey Hanson. However, this exterior masks a more caring and responsible individual. As the driving force behind the Mew Project, he feels a deep sense of responsibility for the girls he has tasked with fighting, and he repeatedly demonstrates a willingness to protect them at any cost. He has a noticeably softer side, which surfaces when he offers encouragement to the shy Bridget Verdant, helping her build her self-confidence. This duality suggests that his abrasive demeanor is a defense mechanism, hinting at a lonely and serious nature shaped by the trauma of his past.

One of Elliot's most significant and secret abilities is his capacity for self-transformation. To ensure the safety of the Mew Mew technology, he was the first human subject to be infused with animal DNA, specifically that of an Iriomote wildcat. This experiment left a mark, known as a Mew Mew Mark, on the right side of his neck, which he constantly keeps concealed. As a result, he can transform at will into a small, grey kitten he calls Arthur. In this feline form, which wears a distinctive green bandana, Elliot often covertly aids the Mew Mews. His most critical ability is restoring Zoey to her human form when her own cat DNA takes over. However, this power has a strict limitation: he can only remain as Arthur for a maximum of ten minutes. If he exceeds this time limit, the transformation becomes permanent, and he would be unable to return to his human body.

Throughout the story, Elliot's motivations are driven by a combination of personal guilt and a genuine desire for redemption. He and Wesley are the strategic leaders of the Mew Mews, managing their missions from the cafe while also dealing with the day-to-day operations of the business. His relationships with the team are dynamic. His interactions with Zoey are particularly complex, characterized by frequent arguments and teasing, which later hints at an unspoken romantic interest on his part that is not reciprocated as her heart belongs to another. Concurrently, the gentle Bridget quietly develops a crush on him, though it remains unclear if he is aware of or returns her feelings. Through his actions, from leading missions to risking his own humanity to save Zoey, Elliot evolves from a seemingly cold leader into a reliable and deeply committed ally.
