Description
Cyniclons Sardon is a fictional character from the anime series Tokyo Mew Mew, where he appears as one of the primary antagonists. In the original Japanese version, he is known as Pai, but in the English adaptation Mew Mew Power and related materials, he is called Sardon, a name derived from the word "sardonic," meaning scornfully or cynically mocking. He is a member of an alien race known as the Cyniclons, who have come to Earth with the goal of reclaiming the planet for themselves.

Sardon is depicted as the eldest, wisest, and most serious of the three alien followers who serve their leader, Deep Blue. His physical appearance is characterized by his tall stature, making him the tallest character in the series, with dark indigo or purple hair, dark gray-purple eyes, and pale skin with pointed ears, distinguishing him as non-human. He often appears composed and rarely shows emotion, maintaining a reserved and stoic demeanor throughout most of the story.

In terms of personality, Sardon is highly intelligent and analytical, frequently serving as the strategist for the alien group. He is the most devoted and determined among his peers in pursuing their mission to conquer Earth, and he follows Deep Blue's orders without question. Unlike his more impulsive and emotional counterpart Dren, Sardon disapproves of reckless behavior, yet he remains loyal and comes to the aid of his companions whenever they require assistance. He does not smile often, and when he does express emotion, it is typically reserved for rare, significant moments, particularly near the conclusion of the series.

Sardon's role in the story is that of a formidable antagonist to the Tokyo Mew Mew team. He appears later in the narrative alongside his fellow alien Tarb, sent by Deep Blue to reinforce Dren in the fight against the Mew Mews. He is responsible for developing many of the plans and strategies used by the aliens in their attempts to dominate Earth and defeat the heroines. He also has the ability to create Chimera Animas, the monster-like creatures used as weapons against the Mew Mews. Regarding key relationships, Sardon's primary loyalty is to his leader Deep Blue. He maintains a complex dynamic with Dren, often disapproving of his impulsive nature but still supporting him when needed. A notable relationship develops between Sardon and Lettuce Midorikawa, one of the Mew Mews. During their encounters, she attempts to convince him that the conflict is unnecessary, and toward the end of the series, he spares her life when given the opportunity to eliminate her. In a significant moment, before sacrificing himself to protect the Mew Mew team, he smiles at Lettuce, who sheds a tear upon witnessing his apparent death.

Sardon undergoes notable development as the series progresses. Despite his initial unwavering commitment to the alien cause, he eventually begins to question his mission. When his comrade Tarb expresses a desire to stop fighting, Sardon initially reacts with confusion and violence, but he ultimately comes to understand that Tarb was correct. In a climactic act of redemption, when Deep Blue attacks the Mew Mews with overwhelming force, Sardon enlarges and doubles his weapon to shield the team, taking the full brunt of the attack himself in a self-sacrificial act. Fortunately, he is later restored to life through the actions of the lead character.

Sardon possesses a range of notable abilities common to his race, including flight and teleportation. His primary weapon is a fan, which he uses to generate powerful wind and thunder-based attacks. His named techniques include Fuu-Rai-Sen, also known as the Wind-Thunder Fan or Aerial Tempest in the English adaptation, Fuu-Hyou-Sen or Ice Wind Blast, and Hou-Rai-Kyuu, referred to as the Thunder Screw. These abilities make him a formidable combatant, complementing his strategic mind and making him one of the most dangerous adversaries the Tokyo Mew Mews face.
