Description
Cyniclons Dren is a primary antagonist from the anime series Tokyo Mew Mew, known in the original Japanese version as Quiche. He is a member of an alien race called the Cyniclons, who are distant relatives of humans, both having originated from Earth in ancient times. Dren has a slim build and appears to be around the age of a teenager. His most distinctive physical traits are his golden eyes with orange hues and narrow, slit-like pupils, as well as his rounded, pointed ears reminiscent of an elf. He has very pale skin, a result of spending most of his life underground, and dark green hair styled short in the back with longer strands in the front held back by red bands. He also has two small, prominent fangs. His attire is native to his people and consists of a dark green, poofy-sleeved shirt with a high collar and a brown, midriff-baring vest over it. He wears black baggy pants that end at the thigh, held up by a red waistband, along with a brown loincloth, red wrappings on his wrists and legs, and dark boots.

In the original anime, Dren's primary motivation is to reclaim Earth for his people. The Cyniclons were forced to flee the planet long ago and now reside on a world with a harsh, inhospitable surface, forcing them to live underground. Believing that humanity is destroying the planet, Dren is determined to eliminate human life and restore Earth as a home for his own kind. He is often accompanied by his two comrades, Sardon and Tarb, with whom he has a complex working relationship, though he is known to have a short temper and has even lashed out at them in frustration. His leader is a mysterious figure known as the Blue Knight, though Dren's loyalty to him is not absolute, and he often questions whether his leader truly has the best interests of their people at heart.

Personality-wise, Dren is deceptively carefree and playful, treating his mission to destroy humanity as an entertaining game. He has a sadistic and cruel sense of humor, taking great pleasure in inflicting both physical and mental pain on his human enemies. Despite this cruelty towards humans, he shows a much more optimistic and even kind nature towards his fellow Cyniclons, suggesting his malice is targeted specifically at the race he believes has stolen his planet. He is also highly intelligent and resourceful, able to quickly turn even his own mistakes into tactical advantages.

A key aspect of his character is his obsessive relationship with the protagonist. He is immediately fascinated by her and frequently harasses her, giving her pet names and seeking her attention. What begins as seeing her as an interesting toy or a pet gradually evolves into a genuine, possessive obsession. He openly declares his love for her multiple times, often in the same breath as threatening her or her friends, creating a confusing blend of affection and cruelty. His feelings drive him to jealousy, leading him to repeatedly try to eliminate her human love interest. This obsession becomes a central conflict for him, eventually culminating in a final act of defiance against his own leader to protect her, a decision that leads to his death. Following the final battle, he is revived by the power of the Mew Mews and returns to his home planet, having finally accepted the protagonist's feelings for another and letting her go.

Dren wields several notable abilities. He is proficient in teleportation and levitation. His primary weapon is to summon and control creatures called Predasites, also known as Chimera Animas. He creates these monsters by using a jellyfish-like parasite called an Infuser, which can possess an animal or even merge with a human's spirit to transform them into a powerful, dangerous beast. He is a skilled combatant who treats his fights with the Mew Mews as a form of amusement rather than a serious threat.
