Description
Precis F. Newman, also romanized in some materials as Precis F. Neumann, is a sixteen-year-old inventor from the town of Linga on the planet Expel. She lives with her father, and the two of them make machines and develop inventions together. Within her own village she is regarded as an oddity, and many of the townspeople keep their distance from her, but her unusual enthusiasm and inventive nature draw the attention of the traveling adventurers Claude and Rena when they pass through Linga. In appearance she is a short girl with brown hair and green eyes, born on February 29.
Personality-wise, Precis is hyperactive, cheerful, and endlessly energetic. She is a brilliant mechanic who can assemble contraptions very quickly, although her devices do not always work the way she planned. Her most personal creation is a robot she built herself and named Bobot, which frequently refuses to obey her. She can be impulsive, stubborn, and easily distracted, and her passion for tinkering sometimes lands her in trouble, but she is also deeply loyal and caring toward the people she loves. When she first meets Claude, she immediately develops a crush on him and refers to him as her prince, eagerly sharing the news with her sick friend Eleanor.
Her main motivation early in the story is saving Eleanor, who is afflicted with a fatal disease. Precis sets out to recover a herb that can cure her friend, and after she succeeds, she decides to join Claude, Rena, and their companions on their journey to Lacour. She is drawn to the group by her attachment to Claude, her desire to help others, and her curiosity about the wider world, and she brings her mechanical talents to their travels.

Her notable combat techniques include Rocket Punch, in which she fires her robotic fist at an opponent; Hop Step, a leaping hammer attack; Mole, which converts Bobot into a drill device so she can burrow underground and attack from below; Ally-Oop, throwing one or more Bobot units at enemies; Parabola Beam, a beam fired from a satellite-dish-like device; Bang-Bang Attack, a rapid hammer strike; Bloody Mary, in which she turns Bobot into a large tank-like machine with drills and charges into foes; and a powerful laser fired by Bobot.
