Lord Haizen is a nobleman and one of the two feuding lords who appear in the anime film Slayers Great. He has red hair and yellow eyes and is depicted as an adult male of some influence. Haizen’s primary motivation is to gain control over the town of Stoner, which is renowned for its golem-making craft. He sponsors a golem fighting festival in the town, with the contest intended to decide which lord will take control. Behind the public competition, Haizen secretly schemes to have the golems mass-produced as unstoppable weapons of war, aiming to use them to conquer a neighboring kingdom. To further his plans, he hires the young golem maker Huey, and by extension the sorceress Naga the Serpent, to build a powerful golem for the tournament. Haizen’s role in the story is that of an antagonist and a source of conflict, as his ambitions place him in direct opposition to his rival, Lord Granion, who hires the golem maker Galia and the sorceress Lina Inverse. Haizen does not undergo significant personal development; his schemes ultimately unravel when Lina’s powerful magic destroys both his and Granion’s castles during the golem battle. In the aftermath, Haizen loses his position and is reduced to serving as a guard for the king, a comedic comeuppance typical of the film’s lighthearted tone.
