Description
Aisha Clanclan is a prominent character in the anime Outlaw Star. She is an eighteen-year-old female belonging to the Ctarl-Ctarl, a powerful, cat-like alien race known for their immense physical prowess and pride. In terms of appearance, Aisha has dark skin, blue or green eyes, and long white or grayish-white hair which she typically keeps tied in a braid with a large gold ring. Her most distinctive features are her large cat-like ears and a small, blue triangular marking located under her left eye. Her attire often consists of a green jacket, a white breastplate, and various accessories including a collar with a golden bell.

Before becoming involved with the crew of the titular ship, Aisha held the prestigious rank of Ambassador Plenipotentiary within the Ctarl-Ctarl Empire, a position that represented the highest honor in her society. However, her career took a downturn when she failed to capture the outlaw "Hot Ice" Hilda, leading to her demotion and reassignment as a resident officer on the space colony Blue Heaven. This demotion fueled her initial antagonism towards the show's protagonist, Gene Starwind, whom she held responsible for her fall from grace.

Aisha's defining personality trait is her overwhelming pride in her race and her own abilities. She is boisterous, loud, and hot-tempered, with a tendency to act brashly and cause significant property damage when angered. Her ego often leads her to proclaim the superiority of the Ctarl-Ctarl over other species, and she is easily agitated, frequently clashing with Gene, who enjoys provoking her. Despite this aggressive and self-centered exterior, she exhibits a childish and curious side, often behaving like a big kid who lacks decorum and constantly teases her companions.

Her primary motivation throughout much of the story is to regain her former position and status within the Ctarl-Ctarl Empire, a goal she refers to as reclaiming her "place in the sun". This ambition leads her to join Gene's crew on the Outlaw Star, as they are all searching for the legendary Galactic Leyline, a treasure trove that could restore her standing. Over time, her role in the story evolves from that of an antagonist and rival to a core member of the crew, serving as a primary source of muscle and comic relief.

Aisha's key relationships are central to her development. Her dynamic with Gene is one of constant bickering and mutual annoyance, though a sense of grudging respect develops between them. She forms a particularly strong bond with the young Jim Hawking, toward whom she acts as a protective and loyal older sister figure. This relationship highlights her hidden depth, as she demonstrates genuine care for his safety, even prioritizing it over her own ambitions for the Leyline's treasure. She also has a habit of giving nicknames to other crew members, such as calling the swords woman Suzuka "Suzu," much to the latter's irritation.

As a member of the Ctarl-Ctarl, Aisha possesses a range of extraordinary abilities. Her physical strength, speed, agility, and durability far surpass those of normal humans. Her skin is incredibly tough, providing natural resistance to bullets and explosions, allowing her to survive point-blank shots from powerful caster shells that would kill or cripple most others. She also has enhanced senses, particularly hearing, which she can use to detect faint sounds from great distances. Her most notable ability is a third-phase transformation into a "beast power," where she morphs into a large, powerful white tiger-like creature. In this form, her strength is magnified, especially under the light of a moon, but it is hypermetabolic, meaning she can only maintain it for a short time and is left exhausted and ravenously hungry afterward. Despite her claims, she is not truly immortal, but her incredible resilience makes her nearly indestructible by conventional means.
