TV-Series
Description
Abuela Saki, whose full name is Saki Enno, is the grandmother of the protagonist Chiaki Enno and a central supporting character in the series. She is an elderly woman with long, greyish-lilac hair that she typically ties back, and lilac-colored eyes. Her attire is a traditional priestess robe, similar to the one Chiaki wears, which is fastened with a gold button and features dotted lines and violet bows at the shoulders. She is also often depicted with exorcism beads.

As the caretaker of the Enno Shrine, Saki holds the important position of a shrine maiden and exorcist. She is a direct descendant of the great mage Ozunu Enno, specifically the 53rd generation in his lineage. This heritage places her as the guardian of the family's sacred duties, including watching over the sealed guardian warrior, Zenki. Her brother, Jukai, is the abbot of a local Buddhist temple, indicating that her family is deeply rooted in spiritual traditions.

Saki embodies the archetype of the wise and patient mentor. She possesses great wisdom, particularly concerning ancient lore, legends, and the art of spellcasting. Her personality is marked by a calm, level-headed, and responsible demeanor, rarely losing her composure even when dangerous situations arise. Unlike the often bickering Chiaki and Zenki, Saki is a steadying influence, frequently attempting to mediate their arguments and reminding others to show proper respect. She demonstrates a deep sense of duty and respect for her ancestors, accepting the decisions made by predecessors like Ozunu without question.

Saki's primary role in the story is that of Chiaki's mentor and protector. She is responsible for teaching her granddaughter everything about sorcery and the history of the Enno line, preparing her for the responsibilities of controlling Zenki and fighting the forces of evil. Her motivations are rooted in both her familial love for Chiaki and her sacred duty to protect the world from the darkness that the Seeds of Evil represent. While initially relaxed during peacetime, she becomes strict and focused on training Chiaki when the prophesied signs of Zenki's awakening begin to occur, fully aware that the guardian warrior's return signals a coming crisis. In the anime, she lives at the shrine with Chiaki and is present from the beginning, directly guiding her through the first unsealing of Zenki. In the manga, her role is slightly different, as she is said to have left on a spiritual journey when Chiaki was young and is only reunited with her later in the story.

Saki's key relationships define her character. Her most significant bond is with her granddaughter, Chiaki, for whom she constantly worries and offers counsel. She is the authority figure who entrusts Chiaki with the Guardian Bracelet, the tool used to control Zenki. Her relationship with her younger brother, Jukai, appears to be one of familiar affection, as she is known to affectionately chide him by slapping his head. Her relationship with Zenki is one of tolerant acceptance; she understands his nature as a necessary force for good and often acts as a calming presence between him and the more hot-headed Chiaki.

While Saki does not undergo a dramatic personal transformation, her development is shown in her shifting approach to her duties. She transitions from a state of peaceful watchfulness to active, determined mentorship when the threat of evil becomes imminent. Her steadfast wisdom serves as a constant anchor for the other characters.

Saki is not a frontline fighter, but her notable abilities lie in her extensive knowledge and spiritual power. She is a skilled exorcist and a master of witchcraft, dedicating herself to teaching Chiaki the spells and incantations necessary to summon and control Zenki. Her primary contributions to the story are through her guidance, her historical knowledge, and her role as the wise matriarch who ensures that the next generation is ready for the battle against evil.
