Lady Eboshi is the authoritative and ambitious leader of Irontown, a heavily fortified mining and smelting community. She is a complex figure who serves as a formidable counterpart to the film's protagonists, embodying the human drive for progress and the often morally ambiguous nature of leadership. Her past is one of considerable hardship, having been sold into slavery to pirates before eventually gaining her freedom. This difficult history informs her fierce independence and her radical, egalitarian approach to governance.
