Description
Kyoji Miura is a seventeen-year-old high school student in present-day Japan and a dedicated member of his school’s kendo club. His life takes an extraordinary turn when he learns that his respected kendo instructor, Tate Masanari, is the reincarnation of an ancient Inca warrior named Yawaru who seeks to purify the world through destruction. Kyoji himself soon discovers that he is the reincarnation of Bilka, the warrior who thwarted Yawaru’s plans in a past life. This revelation places him at the center of a reawakened conflict spanning centuries. Kyoji’s personality is grounded in a calm, thoughtful modern sensibility, yet it is tinged with the dormant intensity of his former self. He abhors needless violence and strives to maintain control over the ancient impulses that occasionally arise within him. Initially unaware of the fated rivalry between himself and his teacher, he holds a deep, genuine respect for Tate, and that bond becomes the source of his greatest inner turmoil when he must oppose him. His primary motivation is to protect the world he knows and to safeguard the future of those he cares about, while also wrestling with a fundamental question of identity: whether he is merely a vessel for Bilka’s soul or truly an individual capable of forging his own path. In the story, Kyoji assembles a group of close allies to stop Yawaru’s plan to unleash the primordial power known as Iriyatesse, which would cause immense loss of life. He gathers his girlfriend Yuka Kiritake, his best friend Dan Takuma, and Dan’s friend Seino Keita to counter Yawaru’s growing forces. Key relationships include his protective bond with Yuka, his friendship with Dan, and the painful opposition to his mentor Tate and to former friends, such as his best friend Daimon, who side with Yawaru. Throughout his journey, Kyoji undergoes profound development. He gradually awakens to his past-life memories and powers, learning to channel spiritual energy that grants him superhuman combat abilities beyond his already practiced kendo skill. This spiritual force allows him to fight against the reincarnated warriors on a supernatural level. His evolution is marked by a shift from confusion and a sense of predestination to a determined resolve to break the cycle of reincarnation and assert his own will. By the climax, he confronts not only the external threat of Yawaru but also the internal struggle to define himself as Kyoji Miura rather than a mere shadow of Bilka, ultimately fighting to create a future shaped by his own choices.
