Description
Quincy Issa, originally named Iiko Isami, is a nineteen-year-old commander in the anime Brain Powerd. She is the elder sister of the protagonist Yuu Isami and leads the Grand Cher squadron of the organization known as the Reclaimers, piloting the red Grand Cher called the Quincy Grand. She is a small, slender young woman with short brown hair and blue eyes.

Growing up as the daughter of the Isami family, whose parents were researchers devoted to the mysterious structure Orphan, she was made to serve as a test pilot for Grand Cher units from childhood. She silently endured the pain and pressure of this role for the sake of her family, an experience that gradually warped her personality. Influenced by fellow pilot Jonathan Glenn, she came to reject her birth name and her family identity. Taking the name Quincy Issa, a name Jonathan said was fit for a queen, she insisted that even her parents use it, and she sought to distance herself from the family in order to establish herself independently.

Quincy is brash, hot-tempered, and combative, with a fierce will to stand her ground. As the leader of the Grand Cher squadron she is cold and ruthless, readily disregarding human emotion in pursuit of her mission. As an antibody, a person whose mind has been shaped and hardened by the will of Orphan, she became a fervent devotee of Orphan's cause, devoting her entire youth to protecting it. Underneath this severity, she is described as having a strongly maternal quality, directing deep affection toward her Grand Cher and toward Orphan itself. She also shows a sisterly care for Yuu, her only emotional anchor, though it is complicated by her commitment to her beliefs.

Her central motivation is the defense of Orphan and the success of the Reclaimers, a cause she embraces all the more firmly as a way of defining herself apart from her family. This places her in direct opposition to the crew of Novis Noah, against whom she leads her squadron in battle. Her feelings toward Yuu are a mix of love and hatred: she resents him for being favored by the Antibodies of Orphan and for abandoning their parents and betraying the Reclaimers, yet she internally wishes he would return to Orphan.

Her key relationships are defined by these tensions. With Yuu, she wavers between resentment and genuine sisterly concern. Her bond with Jonathan Glenn is competitive, as the two vie for control of the Reclaimers even as Jonathan acts as the one who gave her her chosen name. With her parents, she is openly antagonistic, having rejected the identity they gave her. Her encounter with Hime Utsumiya becomes pivotal, as Hime attempts to rescue her during the later stages of the conflict.

Quincy's development comes when her hardened convictions are shaken by Yuu's insistence that Orphan should be released from its guilt. Confused by this, she becomes the point at which her own Grand Cher rebels against her state of mind. Orphan itself then favors her as the Girl of Orphan, a chosen embodiment of Orphan's will. In the end, she is rescued by Yuu, who helps her understand what Orphan truly wanted to do, allowing her to move past the hatred that had defined her.

Her notable abilities center on her piloting and command. Trained in Grand Cher operation from childhood, she is a skilled and aggressive combatant in the red Quincy Grand, a machine that suffers heavy damage over the course of many battles and is eventually captured by Novis Noah. As a squadron commander, she is forceful and dominant, able to lead the Reclaimers' pilots through sustained combat operations.
